On SC 2.9.1 my battery life sucked on 2.8 my battery life is great.
guys, the roms you are speaking of have very little differance in battery life. the kernel on the other hand has a great deal. the varriance you are seeing between 2.8 and 2.9 has more to do with what gets left behind between flashes and the sync between your battery and your phone. thats why i posted the how to battery thread.

Same. Try Blackhole 4.3 it's the only one I can say has great battery life.
Alright... I'm ready to bite on EC10. I'm also ready to bite on Voodoo.
Currently: SC 2.9.1, EB16, Nonvoodoo
Going to: SC 2.9.1, EC10, Voodoo
Is this transition as simple as installing the EC10 voodoo kernel with CWM and then enabling the lag fix?
I followed the battery thread and my phone didn't improve.
DIRECTLY FROM THE Q&A SECTION OF ADRYNALYNE'S SUPERCLEAN THREAD
Q: How is battery life?
A: Battery life is a mixed bag. Some find it awesome, some find it horrible. This is currently out of my hands. All Froyo versions and roms currently have their issues with keeping the phone from sleeping. While I made not have these issues, many do, and it cannot be denied that there is a problem somewhere. There is no one direct cause that I have found, as of yet.
Some tips that have helped others:
Turn off GPS when not in use.
Open/close Maps.
Turn off auto rotate when not in use.
Try DL09 modem.
Battery life is a known and well documented issue with the EB01 build. A lot of the more experienced members here have set up their phones exactly like someone complaining about battery life in an attempt to figure out what was causing the battery drain, but could not duplicate the results. So the best answer everyone needs to keep in mind is what Adrynalyne has said over and over - YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY. There has been no identifiable rhyme or reason for why one person's battery life on EB01 is horrible, while someone else's on EB01 is great. Adrynalyne and the other devs are a hell of a lot smarter than any of us when it comes to this and THEY are saying they don't have any answers right now. We will not get any help on battery life until Verizon releases the official Froyo version and the devs can get their hands on the source code and give us custom and undervolted kernels. Definitely play around and find what set up works best for YOU. Just remember that since it is hit or miss, your best battery life may not be as good as another person's battery life because of how many factors affect battery life. It is what it is for now.
Go to Gunnermike53's voodoo thread http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ks/55753-how-voodoo-updated-9-mar-2011-a.html
Good post LS. Swimming against the recent tide, battery life for me on 2.9.1 voodoo with the new EC10 voodoo is the best I have had to date.
Each of us have our phones set up differently with themes or no themes, apps or few apps, how we use it, etc.
My set works for me after trial and error and what I want the phone to do. Yours may not with what you choose to do.
+1.. Amen Brotha!bumpity bump bump bump to the bumpity-bumpith power
You can prove it mathematically:
FASN8=Super Duper Beotchin' Screen/Hardware
Super Duper Beotchin' Screen/Hardware = Electron Juice Sucker
Electron Juice Sucker = Battery Chompin' Death Monger Of Death
Battery Chompin' Death Monger Of Death = We Need a Better Battery
We Need a Better Battery = Don't Hold Your Breath
a.k.a. Battery-Beotchin' belongs with "Where's Froyo?" Beotchin' - in the recycle bin.

Thanks Landshark. I've read the thread and it looks straight forward. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't the need to go all the way back to square 1 like Gunnermike53 suggests.
I'll drop the EC10 voodoo kernel on top of the nonvoodoo EB16 kernel and see what happens. Can't go too wrong can it?![]()

When I flash a kernel....do I need to fully charge my battery?
