For those that got the OTA GB update - get your new phone

No problem. Lol my wife wished it would have fixed hers.

lol. There's a DInc2 in my family. It's a lot easier to type in portrait mode -- the 4-inch screen makes a real difference. Honestly, I think she'll change her mind once she tries it out. ;)

That's good to hear. I get to tell her the news when she gets home from work today :)

Just called up Verizon to tell them all the problems I have had with BOTH of my Incredibles (2 of them) since the OTA update.

They got me to their level 2 support and he said that due to ordering the phone April 29 2010 that they were both out of warranty and he could not issue a replacement.

I explained that this was Verizon's problem since they pushed the OTA update and that the phones are both worthless at this point. I told him that either HE or WE are going to have to speak to his supervisor.

He checked with his supervisor and after 5 to 10 min came back and said he would be sending 2 HTC Incredible 2's as replacement for both phones.

The biggest problems I had were "low application data space" and "phone storage space is getting low" errors, force closes and apps that would not work, phone lock ups so bad I had to pull the battery and 1 of the Incredible is having Bluetooth issues. Almost all problems persisted after the factory data resets and formatting of the SD cards and internal phone storage I did. The funny thing is that my father's DINC never had any memory errors until Gingerbread and he only has like 50 apps, never texts and does not use the HTC mail app.

I have been waiting patiently for the 2.34 update, but to no avail. Phone calls to Verizon have been fruitless, they just say "it is being rolled out in stages" and "you just have to wait". No I am not so sure I want it to come if it going to break everything. Unless of course they are willing to give me a dinc 2 to make up for the bad software :)

Add me to the list of people who could be getting an Incredible 2 as a replacement.

Unfortunately, my phone is missing the camera lens frame/bevel, so I'd have to risk a possible $299.99 charge from the factory if they deem it to be something that could have caused my software issues.

I think I'm calling Verizon on my way home tonight to see what they can do for me. This low on space thing is killing me. I keep clearing out my email & messages, deleting apps and it's basically on the screen constantly now. When I talked to someone there last week, they mentioned sending me out a replacement and I think I'm going to take them up on it. Hopefully the Inc 2 doesn't have too many issues.

The DInc2 is a nice phone, actually. The extra .3" of screen real estate makes a nice difference.

Really great if you end up needing a global phone later on, too.

Good luck!

That's good to know. I've heard the battery life is better too, which would be nice. I really like my Inc, but I'm about ready to throw it against the wall (and I usually totally baby my phones) because of this low on space thing. Now I can't even get it to go away at all and I know that shortly I will most likely stop being able to receive texts and emails due to it.

At this point, since the Incredible is over a year old, as long as it works (and maybe even not work at all) when they get it back they probably dont really care what condition its in. The tech didn't mention anything about water damage, etc when he set up my out of warranty replacement for the DINC 2, like they did previously when I got replacements under warranty. More than likely they will take these defective DINCs and recycle them in the trash.

So I have been reading all of this and am experiencing the same issues. Tonight I am no longer getting Gmail to synch and I get the low on space issue every day even after moving apps to the SD card. I am on a stock Dinc and with the GB OTA 2.3.4.

My question is does a factory reset really work? Also you all are mentioning calling VZ and getting an upgrade to a Dinc 2 (refurb). Is getting a refurb Din2 better than holding out for an update to GB from VZ? I assume they are working on one with all the issues. I really like my Dinc prior to the update and I like GB so far - other then the constant issues. I don't want to get a refurb and get in the loop of sending it back due to issues it may have. What are your thoughts?

A factory reset fixed all my problems, at least so far. Everything syncs, and I don't see the low space warning anymore. Definitely recommend doing it.

Does a factory reset delete the information on the SD card? Can I delete everything on my SD card as well or are there files there that need are part of the operations of the phone?

It shouldn't touch the SD card but it wouldn't hurt to have a backup of those files just in case, especially if you have any hard to replace ones.

Deleting the SD card contents wont hurt anything, the next time it mounts the card it will recreate any essential files or folders.

In my experience, a factory reset resolves the problem -- but only for a short while, until whatever originally caused the problem causes it to happen again. IMO, this is a serious design flaw that has gone on way too long.

Thanks you guys. I will give it a try to see what happens. It won't sync my Gmail account at all now. :(

My Inc 2 is on the way. The tech support person originally said they'd send me a refurbed original Inc, but I requested the Inc 2 and she checked with her supervisor and said it was fine. Only problem is that they were out of the regular battery/battery door, so they are sending me the extended ones. I think they're going to send out the regular ones once they are in stock.

So are you getting a new Dinc 2 or a refurbished one?

Refurbished. I don't think they're sending out new ones for this issue, although you never know. I'm okay with refurbished though - my brand new Inc was a piece of crap, the refurbished one they sent me to replace it was awesome... until Gingerbread.

Thanks for the information. I did a factory reset this morning on my Dinc and so far so good. I am still getting all my data back on the phone though. So hopefully is resolves some or most of my issues. Yet to be determined. If not VZ will get a call from me. :) Thanks everyone for the good advice.
