This will be my first trade-in through Samsung...any tips on packaging the old phone to return?

I know the instructions say to reuse the shipping box from the S10 delivery, which I'll do, but I don't have the original S8 box to package the S8 inside the shipping box, nor do I want to use the S10's original packaging.

So...what works best, or what kind of packaging might trigger Samsung rejecting the trade in?

Use bubble wrap to completely protect the phone and then see if you can find a small box to put that in. After that you can try to find an old shipping box if you have any if not you can also drop by FedEx or UPS and they can give you shipping box. If you want to pay up they also have special packaging with padding etc to ship phones or other electronics. But they are going to charge a lot, personally bubble wrap, plenty of padding inside the shipping box will do fine. Make sure you take videos/photos of you packing and showing the device is in good condition and turns on, next to shipping label. Just in case if you need it later.

If you ever order small items from Amazon, like cases, I whole heartedly recommend their bubble mailers. Or even going to an office supply store or Walmart and buying one for 50 cents or so. I ship all my phones in the Amazon mailers inside a box.

I shipped mine back yesterday..plenty of bubble wrap. Also make sure you use a Fed Ex Ship Center, not just a drop off place. I was reading on FAQ or something and it said needed to be a Fed Ex ship center. Not sure why, I would also make sure and get them to give you a ship receipt.

Oh, it was on the email at bottom:

"• Drop off the package at any authorized FedEx Ship Center. Click here to find one nearest you.
• Please do not use a FedEx Drop Box when making a return. All packages must be dropped off at a FedEx Ship Center."

and for the love of GAWD please make sure your phone that you are returning isn't broken. First phone I returned supposedly had a dent in the phone and they changed me full price.

I didn't receive my phone yet but I did receive the email to send my old phone in. I see everyone is talking about going to FedEx to ship it. My label shows USPS Parcel RTN SVC however. It is going to Smartlabel Returns Parcel Return Service 56901. Anybody else getting this? My carrier is AT&T.

Did you buy your phone through AT&T or Samsung? I bought through Samsung, and the label and directions were all to FedEx.

You probably preordered thru AT&T, right? They use the USPS for returns. BTW, the Smart Returns service is the slowest and cheapest way to ship an item and there is no way to track it, and the post office won't give you a receipt. I learned that from my last phone return with AT&T.

Tracking # is on the return label. Just mailed mine off and it's showing tracking thru USPS

I was told at the counter they don't want phones to freeze in a FedEx drop box, thus the instructions to drop off at a FedEx Ship Center.

I preordered it through Samsung and have AT&T as the carrier. Also it does look like a tracking code for USPS below the barcode.
