Had my Pre when it first came out, will be making the switch this Friday @ Best Buy. I really loved the Pre when it came out. WebOS is a very good operating system. Just wished they could've kept up w/ technology. I think I'll really miss the ability to "flick" through the cards to see the apps I've got open. My wife got the Epic 4g and she loves it. So it won't be too difficult to adapt to Android. I am looking forward to it...

I was first in line for my Pre- and I have the first appointment at BB for my EVO3d. Guess I'm no longer a Prefanboy. Although I still liked the Pre, it just didnt keep up with Technologic. My last 4 phones have been Palm.

You and me both. Funny that the next EVO will be out before the Pre3 has even been announced. So long WebOS......

EDIT: Or should I say, a release day has been announced. Bummed that H/Palm dropped the ball, but at the same time pumped for such a powerful device! :-)

I voted yes although I am currently using an EVO. The only reason I'm using an EVO is cuz my pre needed repaired and best buy couldn't do it so they swapped it for an EVO. I got the buy back program and will be trading in my EVO for the 3d. And will have some extra cash to spare after taxes.

I too am moving over from the Pre. The phone had such potential, and I still think the OS is wonderfully done. The folks over at WebOS-Internals can match the very best of XDA line for line. But there is no carrier announcement or release date for the Pre3. And, after waiting two years for flash, for the microphone api to be included in the sdk, and for the phone to hit developer critical mass, I'm done with webOS for the foreseeable future. I've been reading up quite a bit on Android OS, and while there'll be a bit of a learning curve, I'm excited about all the potential for hacking my device, especially with such strong hardware backing it.

Launch day Pre owner, Early morning in line to get it, when I first held the thing i was like damn it's small!! I won't regret leaving though. Should have left for the EVO last year but I was still a brainwashed webOS head valuing form over function.

Pre3 with webOS 2.2, expected on AT&T and Verizon , First up is Verizon, where we?re hearing that Big Red expects to be launching the CDMA Pre3 on July 21, 2011

Skype integration coming to Pre3 with webOS 2.2, expected on AT&T and Verizon in July | The #1 HP / Palm webOS Community | PreCentral.net

that's all rumor/leak speculation. that's not a carrier announcement, which usually is 3-4 weeks prior to actual availability. unless HP is finally making good on "we'll launch soon after announcements" heh. I think that was the point alwaysonline was making, nothing official.

Screw HP... Screw the Nexus S 4G too.. tried that... EVO 3D here I come next week (on vacation over the weekend.)

Great thread -- I almost started one like this this morning because it seemed like there are many AC users that are switching from the Pre.

I too am a Pre user and am counting the minutes until I get my EVO 3D on Friday. Like many Pre users, I had been with Palm products for years and years, but have finally had it with the waiting and waiting and waiting. So many broken promises from Palm and now with HP it's just too little, too late.

I started with a Palm V back in '98-99 (?), had a number of Palms, then Treos, and now finally the Pre, which will likely be the last Palm product I own.

I loved Palm and I still think WebOS is the best mobile OS hands down. But again, too little too late. Moving on to greener pastures now. Hello Android!!!

+1 I feel almost the same exact way. only change Palm V to Vx and 98-99 to 2001 I can't frakking wait until friday.

EVO 3d is the only real solution

Had the pre from Day 1 , Speaker is shoot , keypay doesn't work anymore . The only way I can replay to a text is write it done on a piece of paper and then take a picture of it, an attached it as a reply, lol. I was looking at the pre HP 3 seems to only be coming to AT&T an verzion at the moment .So I will be moving to htc evo 3d.

I was also starting to have problems with the speaker on my Pre. If I just touch the phone a clicking sound comes out of the back speaker. Sometimes I have trouble hearing people in the earpiece and talk over them, that doesn't happen when I use the BlueTooth earpiece though.

I really do like WebOS and it was going to be a difficult decision to make between Pre3 and EVO3D. HP made it for me since they won't even give us the courtesy of knowing which carriers the Pre3 will release on. I can't wait any longer... Sorry HP. I really liked my Pre, but you snooze, you lose.

I was a launch week Pre - owner. I really miss webOS, but I needed a change. I grabbed an Evo 4G about 2 months ago, and now I'm making the 3D jump. I hope to go back someday, but not until there is a webOS device on Sprint.

Best thing about leaving webOS..Now when new Apps are released/updated, you know FOR SURE that it applies to your phone!!

Me too, launch day Pre owner, going to Evo 3D.
My wife got the Epic last week so I've had a little time to learn the basics of Android and I think I'm going to like it.
I feel bad for ditching Web OS but then I realize, HP ditched me.
Hello Evo 3D, hello MLB At Bat app, welcome back to my Slingbox (I'll get it to work) and so many apps I could only dream about.

Launch Week Pre here, and i recall just watching all the youtube videos promoting how kool the pre is. I was an active user on PC and just loved what those homebrew guys did and how it really did add to the functionality of the phone. But two years in an i cannot see any other company ditching their most loyal customers as HP did. I wouldnt have mind if they gave us first dibs on the Pre3, but they wont even allow us to even see what webos 2.0 is like. Like everyone said, HP made their decision to ditch me and you all, so i like a good broken up person does is move on. I will miss the os and i will prob enjoy using the Evo 3D in about 10 hours. I will not make the mistake of trusting a company, and i doubt that HP has much of a future now that the majority of their faithful customers will move onto android.

Don't know if I am cheating by answering yes or not. I love my pre. I love it. It suddenly stopped connecting to Sprint about 3 weeks ago (purchased 2 years ago, July). I was also just waiting for the new pre3 to be released (or at least announced). I still felt I HAD to have the physical keyboard. I got the EVO shift 4G. There was a very small learning curve. I like it a lot. Having been away from the Pre, I will still say both are very cool. I do not turn my back on my Pre love. I do also whole heartedly embrace this phone and the Android OS.

I will also add, they released 2.3 to my phone about 5 days ago. The shift came with 2.2. Wow!!! It added (or fixed) at least 3 to 5 of the things I had wondered "why would they do this?" or "why didn't they do this?" I was amazed. It was this like making the settings option more easily accessible. There are little nuances. Now honestly, being that I had the device for only about 2 weeks and then this is updated seemed like something seriously out of a dream. I know you all know what I mean. But I do realize that some people would have had this phone for quite some time, waiting for such an update.

I will also say that this phone showed me that I should probably get by just fine without a hardware keyboard. Even though I love the shift, I feel like the advancements in the hardware cannot be overlooked.

I cannot wait to get the 3D.

Dave

Launch Day Pre owner and I ditched it last month of the Evo Shift...never looking back. Flash, WebOS 2.1 (an official release), and over 2 years without a new device. Why the tease in February if they had no plans to release it anytime soon? Android wasn't that difficult to grasp either. I biggest thing is trying to swipe instead of pressing the back button. I also like the fact I can find an app for things now.
