Outllooknotes sync -

I use Pocket Mirror from Chapura to sync my contacts, but more importantly, notes from MS outlook to my Pre. Is there anything like that for Android?

Jumping from WebOS too. Got it at launch....love it. Absolutely beautiful. But....just couldnt go hardware-wise and there was simply no "oomph" behind it all. The homebrew community was great, but there's Android-everything now.

Gotta figure out how to get my contacts from the Pre to the new phone when I get it, though.

Well its easy to do depending on how you synced your contacts on your pre. was it through palm profile, google, yahoo, etc...?

Palm profile: http://www.webosnation.com/how-to-export-and-move-your-contacts-patch

Google: login into your google account on your android phone.

You wrote Outlook, but did you mean Outlook or Exchange?

I found touchdown from nitrodesk. I went ahead and bought it. I run exchange 2010 at work. I could not beilieve it when I discovered it syncs notes from exchange 2010. But it only works with exchange. I use Mai droid for my home email account using imap.

I wonder if I can just take my pre minus and Evo 3D into a sprint store and have them transfer my contacts...would be a pain to have to do it manually...

Pre minus day one adapter. Waited online for it. And sadly I'm on my who knows how many device (maybe 4th?). I just don't understand how a company can make such a pos phone, not acknowledge any of it's problems, and could care less about its supporters. There unwillingness to want to help people and develop a plan to deal with all of the problems is beyond mind boggling. Now I can see why the company had to be bought out.

But it's not like HP is doing them any favors. Not allowing them to update original Pre minus phones with new OS and cutting off dev support is beyond ridiculous.

I honestly want to know what HP feels when they have to know there are this many people who talk about going through 9+ Pres, ghetto rigging the crap out of each one to make it work, and then bad mouthing the crap out of it while jumping ship to another device. I mean, its not like its a select few...it's pretty much anyone that owned the phone. Are they not embarrassed? Do they not care? And if it is the latter, how can they continue to look at themselves in the mirror and also continue to succeed as a company? I mean, they will be in the same play Palm was just a year ago looking to sell the company. They are completely useless as far as I'm concerned.

I've always suspected and I'll say it again, HP never bought Palm to be in the phone business. Any company seriously trying to compete with Google, Samsung and Apple would never release the phones that they have. The Veer is the biggest joke amd the Pre 3 has nothing compelling about it. How long can they tout "cards" as a killer feature? WP7 has cards in the newest update and Once iOS steals cards it's all over for webOS.

Well, if they didn't buy Palm to be in the phone business why exactly did they buy them? They should have let some other powerhouse such as apple or google purchase them and let webos live on in other devices. It obviously wouldn't have been called webos but can you imagine an iphone or an android utilizing cards and subtle nuances that Palm couldn't fully grasp bc of hardware setbacks?

If HP bought Palm not to be in the phone business (WHY?!?!?!) and don't really intend on keeping up with it the os then they are going to run the os into the ground and kill it. So, why exactly did they purchase Palm then?

I was due for an upgrade from my pre since April 1. I'd been waiting to upgrade to the Evo3d since it was announced back in March. And when Sprint announced the early buying option for us premier customers, I was psyched. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for yesterday to come. But my stupid pre finally crapped out for good last week. And I didn't want to deal with going to a sprint store, having them test it, and give me another crappy pre to hold me over until the 3d. On my first pre, it actually lasted a good 10 months, but I didn't drop it ever, until one day. Dropped it, power button didn't work anymore, and wifi didn't work. I returned it, got the second pre. The second one...MELTED in the sun. Yes, it melted. It wasn't even in direct sunlight. It was in a bag, under shade, in warm weather. Seriously? What kind of qc did Palm have going on? I had used Palm products for years. From the original p.d.a.'s to Treo's to finally the Pre. The pre, although nice to use, was so poorly built, it's mind boggling. Also, on the second pre, the power button also stopped working, although I never dropped this one. And finally, I used headphones last week, and that's the straw that broke the camel's back. It thought headphones were plugged in permanently. So I couldn't use the ear piece or mic. So I finally upgraded to the original Evo 4G, and will be exchanging it (without the restocking fee) on Friday for the 3d. I'm loving the new phone. And although I was really hoping to have the 3d in my hands today, I don't mind as I've got a few extra days to familiarize myself with android. And the lesson I've learned through this experience is good hardware is more important than a good OS. And at this point, with all the user support, customization, etc, android, imho, has surpassed webOS in usability. Cards, although nice to use, really doesn't make up for all the other advantages android has. The only thing that I'm really getting used to is swype. But I think the more I get used to it, it will actually end up being a faster way of entering text.

Good by HPalm. Get bent. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. I wonder how many business classes use Palm/HP as a case study on how NOT to do business and treat customers, especially early adopters that served as the life preserver while they floundered, only to be left out in the dark when upgrades were finally announced YEARS later.

Anyone that thinks webOS has a future, I have to imagine, is quite delusional. All the original pre owners I speak to (for the exception of a VERY small number of die hards), and all of the folks on this thread, I think shows how they've lost a very important segment that will be extremely difficult to get back.

Getting my EVO3D delivered today I will miss Freetether app on my Palm Pre the most. Hopefully if someone figures out how to root the evo we can have a free wifi tethering app as well...

HPalm - "you webos owners MIGHT get some cool news in August..."

You seriously want me to hold onto the pre - with that tidbit of info...do we even know what carriers will get the Pre 3?

Sorry HP...you better hope that I hate this Evo...

Are they deaf, blind, ******ed or all three? Do they not get it? Do they not hear the outcry people have been giving them for the last year or two? Jeez. Ignorance really is bliss. Surely, you would think that SOMEONE, ANYONE in there marketing/pr department would read up on all the hate and frustration we as Pre users have, and maybe, just maybe try and expedite the whole process of getting Pre 3 out before every last Pre user has jumped ship to Android. Lol, "...MIGHT get some cool news in AUGUST..." wow. Another epic fail by an epic failure of a company. Newsflash HP/Palm, while you continue to do nothing and blindly hope for the best, you all will be out of a job shortly bc as you continue to drop the ball, your company is a ticking time bomb.

They bought it for webOS to enter the tablet market and for PCs and other connected devices. I think phones are a part of that but it isn't their main focus. Let's see if they prove me wrong.

It was pretty cool how everything was integrated and made to work together. Seemed kind of silly to own the tablet and not the phone so I understand the approach...I was open to it even though the Pre 3 was underwhelming IMO...

BUT the silence is truly shocking to me...why not announce/leak ANY bit of info...I would seriously have considered holding off on purchasing the Evo3D if they had just announced something...anything...

like I said...they better hope I hate the Evo3D or their next phone is really amazing.,..

I've had both a Pixi and Pre over the last two years, and while I love webos, I'm ready for something more powerful. I almost hope HP can win me back in two years.

I truly feel that since Palm/HP has treated us in such a way it is too little too late.

We all like WebOs but after one year of using Sense 3.0 and getting accustomed to it I am sure I will not miss it. Andorid is coming out on some pretty powerful devices that are destroying the competition. I know the mighty iPhone 5 is coming out but that phone has never interested me and getting down to stats and what not it probably won't be as powerful as the Android devices.

I truly think HP/Palm has missed the mark and it will be really hard to recover from this debacle in the phone market. Obviously HP isn't gong away as a company but I don't see them succeeding in the cell phone industry at this time.

I mean Dell has already put out 2 decent devices but we don't hear alot about that... all we hear is how HP is going to come in and turn everything to gold lol.

I am still on my Pre- from 07/09/2009 (seems like yesterday). I will be carrying both starting this evening until the end of my contract for the Pre- and then I will be simply a former Pre user. I cant wait till I get home from work to play with my new toy.

On a side note, what kind of battery life are you guys getting nowadays?

Mine can go about 7 hours at most, on standby. It's always had **** battery life.

On standby I get about the same but if I actually make a call or text or sirf the web the time is diminshed drastically.
