On a side note, what kind of battery life are you guys getting nowadays?

Mine can go about 7 hours at most, on standby. It's always had **** battery life.

Battery life? Ha! I have to constantly be charging my phone through out the day (3 to 4 times) :/

Finding Equivalent Programs for the EVO 3D from my PRE

RE: Finding Equivalent Programs in the Marketplace for the EVO 3D that are Now on my PRE

I found quite a few of my favorites: Evernote, DIRECTV, Youmail, Secret!, Sticher, NY Times, etc.

But there are a few programs now on my PRE that I can't find in the Android App Marketplace.
I was trying to locate the exact same program by the same developer, but I know that's not always possible.

I'm looking for AuctionMate Pro (an eBay Auction app), MoreStocks by More Solutions, LLC, Shopping Manager, P2Snippets and SimpleTime Lite

If you have found these in the Android Marketplace, or a good working equivalent, let me know

Thanks

ChasDROID

(My EVO 3D Should arrive by UPS today, WED)

Doesn't it feel hilarious when people call the battery life of 16 hours short? And I'm assuming that's with normal use.
I'm probably still going to run this in a very conservative fashion at first, with a lot of things disabled. Basically hunkered down.

Wow so many pre owner switching. I am as well and looking forward to getting a new phone after two years. Still love my pre and it is good shape will enjoy using it as a wifi device and putting webos 2.x on it since I have been holding off on doing that.

Make it another Pre user going to the dark side.
The one thing that I absolutely loved about the Pre was the touchstone.

I have read a few threads on modifying the touchstone to work with the evo gen 1.

I am going to add inductive charging to mine as soon as it arrives in the mail. I will start a new thread when I get it working.

Bateery life? If I Don't touch my phone I admit it can last all day, Once the screen is on? THERE IS NO BATTERY LIFE...I welcome anything better than a overclocked Palm Pre for battery life...

You haven't seen battery issues unless you've used a Pre LOL :D

Pre- release day owner here as well. I have my pre-order in and can't wait for Friday. I feel like a fool believing as long as I did that we would get flash. I am going to miss the form factor, but not the cheap plastic. I'm really going to miss the touchstone.

I too will miss the touchstone technology but i wonder if the magnets in the touchstone will affect the magnatometer in the Evo3D?

I am planning on switching as well. I am interested in running 2.0 on my Pre- since I will not be selling it back to Sprint for $5. How do you go about installing 2.0 on it?

Not worth it ,that the reason I broke down and switched to android is because webos 2.0 is not much better than 1.4.5 even overclocked to 1ghz my pre would slow to a halt with 2.0

Same, I have to reboot my 2.1 Pre- at least once a day (3x today so far) running the F104A kernel at 1.1GHz. Before that I tried stock (unusably slow) and UberKernel (laggy and still unstable).

The changes from 1.4.5 to 2.1 were relatively minor and not worth the extra effort it took to metadoctor. WebOS still has a lot of glaring deficiencies and 2.1 seemed to address none of them. I think it actually caused more issues (for me) than it fixed.

TBH, I think the slow down is due more to the lack of ram in the Pre. Watching the Veer videos, I feel it is a bit snappier than my Pre, and it only runs at 800mhz (and it's a newer/better processor, that helps too for the Pre3).

But yeah, this HP reboot of the OS just killed it for a majority of the original supporters =/ I cringe when I see Sprint STILL sell the pixi (or offer it free).

How did you do it? I am not interested in keeping this as my primary phone, but it would be fun to mess with as a backup once I get the EVO 3D.

Do this (doesn't work on windows): Application:MetaDoctor - WebOS Internals

Then do this: Sprint PRL Update - WebOS Internals

Then do this: WebOS 2 Upgrade - WebOS Internals

And according to this: https://developer.palm.com/content/resources/develop/developing_on_an_unactivated_device.html#c21712 you only need to put the phone in dev mode to use a 2.0 device unactivated. I haven't tried this, but I did use the .jar file on that page to run a 1.4.5 pre without activation.

I got my Evo 3D today in the mail and other than trying the Epic and Evo 4G, had Pre on release day. I like may love WebOS but good software is only as good as the hardware. I look forward to HP doing something with WebOS but tired of waiting so switched to to Android. Like it so far but it is different..

As a former Pre user (well as soon as my Evo3D is delivered) Im just curious how many others made this jump.
I was a first day Pre owner as well. Received the EVO 3D today and can't really say I miss much. It is still taking me a while to get adjusted to the size of the phone. This phone is so quick and responsive. I hated how long it used to take the Pre to boot up. I have rebooted the EVO 3D and just laugh at how I wasted two years of my life with crap. Call quality is no isssue, signal strength is much better, functionality of this phone is AWESOME!!!! HP will probably never see MY money again.

I've used palms for over 10 years and its kinda sad to leave. Wife went from a pixi to the evo a few months ago. I stuck it out w my pre+ until I got my 3d on wed.

I think you are right- in fact I tried a Veer at best buy and loved it. I had fun opening as many different programs/ cards as I could to see how many it could do without slow down. ...let's just say I would never have a problem with that phone which is a far cry from what I have with my Pre- ....if it were on sprint my girlfiend or I may have even ended up with it....
