I found this beat up looking htc one past week.
Broken volume rocker, specifically the up key.
Problem is it has a pin (combo lock) so ill have to factory reset to use.
Well, i cant get it to initiate the reset rlwithout pressing vol up since there is no camera key.
Am i mistaken, is there a work around?
I was thinking there had to be some command from the computer to tell the phone to factory reset, or couldnt i just install a custom operating system?
Thanks team!

Maybe cdma workshop?
but i need htc connection drivers and i also dont think i can put phone in diag mode when Its locked.

After android using multi-tools i changed the device and can no longer get the recovery screen up. it now goes to safe mode when i hold the down+power button. I cant get it to display tue factory reset option at all now. What did i do, is this the "fastboot" mode? Any help would be nice, thanks.

Ok, this is somewhat the idea I had. Ill have to research how to get the computer to initiate the installation of the operating system without[\u] the phone being at the screen that displays the recovery options. Any thoughts as to why that (recovery?) screen is no longer accessible, what did I do to disable it? Will it cause future functionality problems? Can (should) I undo this change, if so how? My best guess was "fastboot" played a role but I was confused about what to do with that software anyway and thus may have only furthered the problems i had with the phone.
I was under the impression that it would be simple to start a recovery or reset from the computer, but my (somewhat limited) prior research yieled no results. At least not any that I was able to comprehend and accomplish at that time.

Negative.
Sorry for double post, slow connection dont want to edit first.
Thanks for the help with my inquiry!
