I hope this is posted in the right area - my question is on a gps bug - from what I read and this is from my experience, that 30 meter/98.4 foot accuracy is always the same because it is hard coded. So you can be spot on or not and it will always state the same hard coded accuracy.
My gps works perfectly and is easily more accurate than what it says on the screen that I am within the 98.4 foot circle - there have been times when I test it and I am within 10-15ft of where I am standing just like my portable Garmin nuvi's which I have two of. I also have 3 different cars that I own and they all have factory gps systems in it and my epic seems about the same as my "5" other gps systems.
With that being said, is it possible to strip out the hard coded programming of any of the 2.2 roms out there and somehow embed or just update/flash the hard coded part into my stock 2.1 rom? The reason I ask, is that my epic works perfectly in every way, and I have great battery life in the way I use it with my stock rom. For the minor problems and/or advantages that might come with whatever 2.2 brings does not seem worth the headache in my case.
Bottom line, I am perfectly happy with my stock "rooted only" 2.1, it's just that it would be nice to get rid of that hard coded glitch.
Thanks!
