Free headphones can be ordered now (Update: Approvals Coming In Now)

I have 2 sets of the H3s (snagged my wife's). These are the first set of headphone I have connected to the V20. My question is, is it the LG with the poor port or are these free $150 headphones faulty at the input jack. Both pairs I have to fiddle with at the port to get quality even sound through the headphones, and a slight bump causes crackling (both pairs). I literally had to pull hard to one side on the input jack to tune to non static sound. People were paying $150 for these? If the headphones are at fault, they are most definitely a non mobile set of headphoness. Sitting on the couch they sound great.

I suppose you can't complain about free, but then again if my friend said "hey you want some headphones I don't want, you just have to fiddle with the cord" I would decline the offer LOL.

I am experiencing the same but I think someone just explained to take it in out of port a couple of times and it will work (a few posts above). I am going to try it and see if it works.
I am a bassy girl...yup not enough bass for me but they do sound extremely good. Great fit as well for me. The LG Platinum might take a back seat to these. Since I like punchy bass I won't complain about these, they are free....lol. But I'm still gonna buy a nice pair of noise canceling wireless ones, maybe the Sony extra bass, Sony MDR 1000x or Bose QC35. Can't make up my mind yet.

I just read on reddit the jack has some oil residue on them. Clean with alcohol and issue is solved :). Mine are fine now.

I am not well versed in the hifi world, can anyone tell me if the H3s AR supposed to kick into high impedance mode? I am only getting Normal mode with the H3s when dac in enabled.

I mentioned a few posts back that the headphones are only 18 ohms, so would not be considered high impedance.

Sound like you've got some experience with earbuds. I've only used ones that come with phones, until the V20. Will I notice a difference between these b&o ones vs in the 400-500 range? I'm looking at the westone w30/w40 for example. I don't know if sounds from earbuds translate to home speakers, but I like the sound signature of paradigm studio reference 20 v5 for example, neutral with bit forward highs. I do like my bass too, but controlled and defined.
It is hard to say. I would definitely hear it but people do not. It depends on your ears, hearing loss, or sometimes it is simply training. I would say if you think the B&O sound better than cheaper sets you will probably hear a difference with better models.

Good lord, really? Wow, not what I was expecting.
I stated just a couple posts above that the plug on the B&O needs cleaned. It in not uncommon for them to have a light film that you can't see. Plug them in and turn them back and forth quickly for thirty seconds to a minute. This should clean them. You could also use a contact cleaner before plugging them in.

I wouldn't get too worked up on high vs low impedance either. DJ full headsets are normally 25 to 80 ohms and still considered low. Impedance. In layman terms all low impedance means is that it takes less power to drive the headsets. Hifi buffs will tell you to get higher impedance for better sound but that's not entirely true. Speaker construction and components play a big part in sound also. I have one set of over ear reference monitors that are low Z and they sound as good as a more expensive pair. Plus, A's others have asked, can you tell? If a $50 stereo sounds as good as a $1000 one to you then why buy the $1000 one? It makes no sense. There is a lot of snobbery in the audiophile world.

I had a similar concern when I tried my v20 headphone jack for the first time. I felt like an ***** but also relieved when another member suggested plugging in with a bit more force.

It is a good thing that the v20 requires more pressure because one it is in, it's really in.

Try pressing the jack in very firmly. There is a secondary level of "click" and you will know it when you feel /hear it

Have you tried Soundwhiz wireless/bluetooth in-ear headphones? They're actually intended to be exercise headphones, but the sound quality is very good, the fit is customizable, and they're sweat resistent. And they're not expensive.

I think it may...may...be the headphones. I've had no problems with either V20 and multiple different headphones

Im so used to Samsung ear buds mannnn i just popped these in my ear and the treble and bass was onnnnnnn point, im hooked on 5 secs of playing yesss

As others stated it isn't the phones. They come with a light protective coating in jack. Once cleansed mine stopped immediately. The build of these is my major concern. The cord seems flimsy. So if you were bending and pushing the plug there is a chance you damaged them if the turning to clean or wiping them with contact cleaner or alcohol doesn't work. Either way you the year warranty to get them replaced. There is always a chanced they were faulty but I an 54 years and first started doing live sound at 16 and studio work (and classes) by 24. I have bought well over 300 pairs for work(this includes for coworkers) and also includes in ears for stage and personal use. I still use in ears for bands. I have only ever had one pair bad out of the box. Of course this also gave me the experience to know right away that these were coated. I have seen that a lot over the years. And they never mention it in instructions but lets face it, who reads instructions on plug and play things.

I've gotten high impedance a few times but mostly normal. Definitely sound a bit better when "high impedance" is triggered
I am guessing that is just a placebo type effect as the phone by design pushes more power of it is high Z. I thought that too but I think it's just a volume boots. Softer cleaning my tip well I no longer get occasional high Z readings. These should be low impedance so I think the false readings occur because of the coating.

Re: B&O Headphones

I'm not sure but what I can tell you is that my Sol Republic tracks v8 headphones trigger high impedance without fail. I kinda think I know why they were free. :-/
These are not high Z so it shouldn't trigger. I think it's just the jack coating. Once it's cleaned off it wears off it should only give one reading. Mine has been low z steady now.

Also as I stated earlier high impedance doesn't necessarily mean better sound. People shouldn't dwell on that.

Also for those that like more bass I still recommend the Symphonized line on Amazon. They are wood, great at reducing outside noise, and have a Premium sound for less than $30. They are not as focused on highs and mids.
I do not like them for classical but they are great for rock and bass heavy songs.

I wasn't differentiating between the headphones, their wire, their jack, or any coating on their jack. I was saying that I didn't think it was the phone...meaning it had to be the headphones.

I'm not sure about these headphones. The first time I plugged them in only One side was playing music. I had to twist and turn the jack until I heard both sides. Then there's the cutting in and out of the sound quality and the reduction of volume going from high to low. I don't even touch the volume when this happens. MY Samsung ear buds that come out of the box are better than these LG ones.
