I was wondering about the 1 year warranty the package claims these headphones have, did anyone register the headphones with LG?

Yeah, I got approved on the 1st, and again on the 16th for some reason, and still have heard nothing.

I've never heard of such a thing.
Mooncat explained it as well or better than I could. This is a debatable subject. Audiophiles swear you have to do it but some engineers say it is not needed. I know in the past I noticed a big difference with PA speakers we used and also home speakers. I also think these have improved with use to my ears.

It could be in my all in my head but I agree that these get better sounding after 24-30 hours of use, I'm really, really liking the sound out of these now.

I think a specific break in isn't needed, but simply because it happens on its own with normal use.

Hmmm same thing here but approved on the 3rd and the 16th.

Just thinking...how many phones did you submit for this promo? In my case both mine and my wife's were done in the same form.

My brother too has been approved for both his wife and his but no shipping info.

Anybody know where to get foam ear tips that fit the H3s? . I tried the foam Jay bird ( pictured below) and they fit poorly, they just slip off. They sure did boost the bass some, but more importantly were more comfortable on my ears. I suppose I could get another silicone pair if anyone has a good recommendation but after the foams and base improvement I would rather go foam.

Amazon sells a brand called Znari that I have thought about trying.
I have issues finding large pairs that work well for me. Aftermarket never seem to seal right. I end up stealing sets from buds that I don't use. I found one site that has some that worked and if course they disappeared. I may try the tips I mentioned above as the foam principle is sound. I used foam for ear protection when inside Pro sound many years ago

You can't "trigger" high impedance. The headphones either are or are not high impedance and the phone detects which they are. Most headphones and earbuds will be low impedance. A lot of higher end over ear sets will be high impedance. All most people need to know for the most part is that low impedance headphones require less power to push the headphones. Impedance, by itself, means nothing when it comes to sound quality. Impedance is often why some headsets are louder than others. Also, you will read that higher impedance means higher quality. This is only partially true. The better drivers in headphones normally require more power to push them. That is why people say that. But most sets people will buy will be low impedance. There is a wide range values and quality in low impedance range with some very expensive models still in the low Z category. I sort of wish LG had left that out of setups since so many people with no sound or electronics background look at it like some super magical thing that needs to be on. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It is nothing more than a notification. When I hook it up to my tube amp it tells me I am hooked up to an external device
You can trigger the high impedance output of the DAC. Sometimes by accident like with the B&O and if you have headphones with a removable cord by plugging the cord in first to the phone and then the headphones.

The sound quality is drastically affected by the phone either recognizing the headphones as normal or high impedance. When I first got them it would regularly show high impedance. Now it's maybe 1 out of 30 times I plug them in. They don't get nearly loud enough for me on normal mode but high impedance mode makes it to where I can't get nowhere near max volume. They get louder and sound much better. It sucks. I wish there was a way to force the dac to kick in.

Also I don't care much about what it means or what it doesn't mean. I just know when high impedance mode is active these Freebies from lg and B&O rock! Without it they are lame. My kids ninja turtle headphones are louder.
