Free headphones can be ordered now (Update: Approvals Coming In Now)

I got an email yesterday that mine have shipped and I'm 61981
In what order is LG doing this in? Mine was # 12XX (can't remember the full number) and my brothers was a few hundred before me and neither of us have received a shipment email.

If it makes a difference I called a couple days ago to see what was happening. They said it takes 7 business days to have an answer. Lo and behold the next day I have a shipping confirmation.

I guess I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I did do the rebate the morning it "opened" and got an approval email on the 3rd then oddly another one on the 16th with the identical information within both emails. They do say 4-6 weeks so technically it's been 4 weeks now so they're still within the timeframe...I just don't want to sound pesky to them.

The sound quality is drastically affected by the phone either recognizing the headphones as normal or high impedance. When I first got them it would regularly show high impedance. Now it's maybe 1 out of 30 times I plug them in. They don't get nearly loud enough for me on normal mode but high impedance mode makes it to where I can't get nowhere near max volume. They get louder and sound much better. It sucks. I wish there was a way to force the dac to kick in.

Also I don't care much about what it means or what it doesn't mean. I just know when high impedance mode is active these Freebies from lg and B&O rock! Without it they are lame. My kids ninja turtle headphones are louder.

Just keep in mind that running low impedance devices like the B&O headsets at high impedance can damage them and probably will if they are used at long intervals in high impedance. If you need the volume use something like Poweramp that has a preamp setting that you can boost. The alpha works great for that. I understand people do not care about technical specs but if they can damage the device people need to know. It may not be an issue as I do not the specs of the DAC, but if they are capable of pushing 300 ohm over ear se s then that level could definitely fry the B&Os (although your ears may fry first). The dirty/coated jack on the B&Os is causing issues that LG should not be dealing with. If they should never hit high Z and eventually will not (mine never do now I cleaned it). I did notice a difference in sound like you, but Poweramp took care of that. The stock player does not cut it. I do not recommend Neutron unless you really understand audio. Parametric equalizers and the various other features make I more a power user program and it is real easy to make it clip if you set things improperly. It can be great but the new Poweramp Alpha actually sounds better. Onkyo has a decent easy player that sounds decent also but it is pricey for what it is.

You can trigger the high impedance output of the DAC. Sometimes by accident like with the B&O and if you have headphones with a removable cord by plugging the cord in first to the phone and then the headphones.

Interesting on the removable cord sets. This shouldn't happen lol. As I stated in another reply just be careful you do not damage your buds with improper impedance settings.

I did that yesterday I got an email this morning that it take four to six weeks. My number 21273 idk :/ I really wanted to try them but I guess I'm the unlucky one not to get them

You got an email saying they shipped? Or that a decision will be made in that time frame?

Another recommendation for the Poweramp Alpha from me! That program plus these earbuds = audio nirvana!

That it be made in that time frame. I'm not sure what really going on but if people in the 60,000 getting it already they skiped mine

Anybody know where to get foam ear tips that fit the H3s? . I tried the foam Jay bird ( pictured below) and they fit poorly, they just slip off. They sure did boost the bass some, but more importantly were more comfortable on my ears. I suppose I could get another silicone pair if anyone has a good recommendation but after the foams and base improvement I would rather go foam.

Look for ZNARI brand on Amazon. They seem to be staying on for me. I am not sure if the isolation is quite as good as rubber sets but i need to try them awhile. They are definitely more comfortable.

That is freaky. Lol. I actually seemed to feel the walls being hit.
I am new to the hifi world. With that said, I know this clip may not impress others but this short clip blew me away, especially since I was sitting on the couch with the B&Os and didn't know what to expect. Honestly I didn't even know the clip played, I truly heard the noise and thought someone was at the house.

My phone was purchased on November 2nd, request submitted a few days after that, and earbuds arrived yesterday, December 3rd.

Jury's out for me on them, however. They fit like a dream (WOW they're comfortable), but even though I listen predominantly to classical music and speech, there's too much treble and not enough mid-tones for my taste. It also sounds like they're adding reverb (unless that's a case of them providing added clarity which lets me hear reverb in the mix....)

I actually only got them because they were a good freebie deal, and I'm not that bothered since I don't listen using buds all that often. I'll try them a few more times, but if they don't work out for me I plan to give them to my daughter - she uses earbuds WAY more than I do, and will like having a pair of higher-end ones than the cheapies that she usually uses. :)

Sharing earbuds is gross.

I tried them out for maybe 5 minutes. I may or may not test them again. That's not "sharing" imo, but a test . She'd likely use the smaller gels anyway.

My sub ID is just shy of 44k confirmed the middle of last month and no shipped email yet.

Here is my take on this thread, playback devices aren't supposed to "color" what they are reproducing, they are supposed to just give it to you as-is. That said people get used to inaccurate and then complain when they hear or see something more accurate, IE Beats and the over exaggerated bass, most TVs and the over exaggerated color saturation, or butchered aspect ratios that fill the whole screen despite the image being cropped or stretched. If you put them in front of a calibrated display or decent speakers they will complain.

Second, high impedance mode just means that the V20 puts out more voltage for the same volume number, not necessarily more power but if it mis-detects the impedance the output voltage will be wrong. Example: it takes 2 volts to drive a 4 ohm speaker to 1 watt (2x2/4=1) but 2.83 volts to drive an 8 ohm speaker to 1 watt (2.83x2.83/8=1).

The V20's headphone amp has dual supply voltage rails and is capable of swinging a roughly 1 volt RMS AC sine wave and has a response down to DC, I used a function generator app and the headphone output to power a white LED. Left set full positive DC and right set full negative gave me about 2.8 volts between them, just enough to light the LED.

Since I don't have the B&Os yet I tried the stock Samsung earbuds that came with the S5 and they will go past permanent hearing damage levels all the way to painful with the phone detecting them as low impedance. Anyone saying the B&Os don't go loud enough (like BB) has 3 options, 1. The B&Os have low sensitivity, 2. Their hearing is already permanently damaged, and/or 3. Their hearing will soon be permanently damaged.

I will be getting my free B&0 freebies in the next 2 days. I will sell them for dirt on Ebay

Good post. I differ slightly in that I agree that they should not color the tone if they are reference monitors and used for studio recording. But regular headsets and speakers often color the tone for a specific market of users. Hence the popularity of Beats (which I hate by the way). The level of the B&O H3s is more than sufficient. I run them halfway on most music. A few crappy mp3s require a little more.
