From BB to Incredible (Have issues, need help, advice)

I'm going to wait to see what Seidio comes out with. Will likely get the thin extended battery if they come out with one similar to what they did with the Nexus One.

I'm another one migrating from the Storm 1 to the Incredible. My only complaint about the Storm was memory management.
Other than that, I think I must have have gotten a magic Storm from RIM - build quality is solid, never had a problem that required a replacement of the device, battery life was decent... but it's stagnant at this point now that RIM has EOL'd the device and isn't releasing updates.

I second that, and add that the official Verizon OS5.0 caused me to have to do 7-10 battery pulls a day. I found a more updated version from another carrier that has made it much more stable (only 1 battery pull a week).
My NE2 upgrade is in July, however if big V has an early upgrade offer like they did when the Droid came out in November, I'm all on board, otherwise I will wait until July for my Droid Incredible.

You might want to back it up through the Desktop Manager first just in case something goes awry. I doubt you'll have any problems, but the last thing you want to do is mess up your contacts. Reminds me years ago when I said "Sure, let itunes organize my music," I spent the next few hours re-organizing my music back to the way it was.

I used google sync on my storm juat now and it backed up my contacts. But I noticed it has no option to put contacts on my phone. So how does that work?

I'm another Storm 9530 user planning on making the switch to the Incredible. I've had my Storm since launch (Nov '08) ,and I have learned to love the thing. The biggest gripe I have with it is the memory being so low.

Anyway, my NE2 is officially up in July so most likely by then, I'll be able to make the switch.

Storm: Worst Smartphone Ever...

On April 29th I will be leaving cell phone purgatory hell. The Storm 1 has been the worst consumer electronic experience of my life. I actually had to waste $15 on a new battery a couple weeks ago. It never lasted a day and the last month had been draining after a few hours. The worst 15 months ever. Thankfully HTC is going to fix this for me. I can't wait to get my new phone.

Agreed 100%. Perhaps it was fate: My storm further twisted the knife into my life of geekdom by deciding to take the plunge of death off a Genie Boom Lift when I was working on new IP surveillance cameras in our warehouse at work. Thankfully, I had my old Curve 8330 to help me get by until my new Incredible is delivered.

Even the old Curve is proving to be a far more capable phone than the Storm. Why the F*** did I ever think getting a Storm would be a good idea?!

Ah well, that was before I read blogs...

Just pre-ordered my Incredible for full retail.

$529.99 was a small price to pay to get rid of the p.o.s. Storm2 I've been stuck with since November. I am on my 4th Storm2... all warranty issues... and I CAN'T WAIT to make the leap!!!

Got my Google calendar and contacts synced and ready to go on Thursday!

Same here 10SE but I'm only on my second S2 lol...pre-ordered from BB though will make payments on my BB card interest free for 18 months can't beat that.

It would be interesting to see what we all LOVE about the storm?? Top 3 things, if you can find 3.
1. Surepress condensed keyboard, fastest thumbkeyboard out there.
2. Native Sync with Itune
3. Battery life

RIM's build quality has really gone to crap as of late.

top 3 things about the storm?
1. surepress condensed keyboard for sure
2. my phone was one of the rare defect free phones, and I love the clickscreen, but can do without it...

and yea thats about it really.

1.) Surepress
2.) Sync with GroupWise (my office isn't an Exchange shop)
3.) BBM

Everything else I liked about using the Storm is replicated either by the Android OS or a similar app. Then again, so is Surepress (apparently BetterKeyboard has a clone).

Well friends, this is post #1. I've been an active Crackberry user since the Storm1 and (regrettably) upgraded to the Storm2. Pre-ordered the Incredible yesterday and I'm confident that this is finally a phone I'll want to keep around for at least a year!

My wife has a BB Tour so BBM will be missed, but the pros far outweigh the cons here.

Wow there really is a ton of us Storm users going to the Incredible. Makes me feel like a little more at home here, lol.

Well, I cannot order my Incredible until Thursday, because CS offered me an early upgrade for my S2 problems. But, CS cannot preorder this phone, so I have to wait for it to be released. Weird, but okay. So I am sitting here reading so jealous of you guys, until the 29th when I can finally order it.

I did just order the high gloss silicone case for it from big red, lmao. It will be here tomorrow!

I'm in the same boat as you dude. Gotta get mine in person since my NE2 isn't up yet but they're giving me the upgrade as a courtesy. I'm getting a bit anxious though, as I've read rumors about some VZW stores not actually having the phones till a later date. Can anyone confirm this.

Top three things about my storm.
1)Themes. I have come across a ton of awesome ones.
2)BBM
3)Decent battery life. Usually I could get 1 1/2 days out of a charge.

I don't have that excuse. I bought the Storm 1 knowing full well that the word on the street was that it sucked. Never again will I buy anything made by BlackBerry. BB OS 6.0 dropping this summer? Who cares. Worst OS for consumers.

Since I'm getting an early upgrade, the CS rep has to manually put my order in the system on Thursday when the Inc. is officially released. I'm supposed to get it Friday. I can't wait!

Call CS and bitch! They will give you an early upgrade if you complain enough (hint: ask for a supervisor!)

I bought the Storm 1 on release day, and did the same with the Storm 2. Once the initial OS update hit the Storm 1, I've liked it. I was with VZW for years, but drank the kool-aid and went to AT&T and the iPhone. BEAUTIFUL phone, sexy OS, limited features (no cut/paste, MMS, multi apps running, etc), and AT&T sucked hind teat.

After 3 mos, I went back to Verizon and the Storm 1. LOVE Verizon. I bought the Storm 1 on release day, and did the same with the Storm 2. Once the initial OS update hit the Storm 1, I've liked it. Sure, it's not as sexy as the iPhone, but I like being able to stay on a call for more than 5 minutes without it dropping. I liked the touchscreen (I rocked typing on the iPhone). Clicking was an extra pain, but it had a unique quality. The Storm 2 was better, faster, better clicking.

However, I'm getting tired of seeing all these sweet apps for Android devices, and I'm tired of devices coming out first for Android vs. BB. A trend I've been noting getting worse and worse.

The Moto Droid was nice, but the physical keyboard was lame, and not that necessary for me. The Incredible may be what I'm looking for.

So, I'm one of those schmucks paying full price for the Inc. I'll give it a good shakedown and evaluate battery life, syncing with Outlook, etc etc. At the end of every day, I usually have a 30% charge left on the Storm 1/2, so I'll already be used to plugging in nightly. I'm sure in the beginning, I'll be burning through two charges/day. Let's hope that settles down in quick order.

I'll miss BBM, but there's only four people on my list, so that won't be a heartbreak. I use Opera Mini as a browser on the BB, but the Inc's browser looks so much better. I do mail heavily. My personal email is Yahoo, so I guess I have to give up push. Does anyone know if IMAP mail services for a mail account hosted by Godaddy.com will push?

Push email is probably the biggest thing I will miss. I loved getting emails on my phone 3 seconds after they were sent. That just rocked. But, waiting 5-10 minutes for the same email won't be bad. If someone needed me sooner than that, they should have called me. ;)

Oh!! Here's a question: One of my favorite apps on BB was "Add To". Say, if I got an email I wanted to follow-up on, I could select "Add To" on the menu and add it to my calendar at whatever date/time I chose. Is there any similar functionality, or an app, that will do the same on the Inc?

Also, I hear that you can't voice dial using a bluetooth headset button push. Not on ANY Android device. It seems this has been a priority fix for the Android people. It'd be nice to have that (I haven't used it on my BB since it never seems to understand me).

Thanks all, and if this phone works out, I'll sadly be leaving BB.

-J.

I was on my 4th 8330. I'm done with rim. Onto the droids!

I'm on my 3rd 8330. 2 out of the 3 replacements were due to it just completely spazzing out for no reason (I did leave one in a cab one night, totally my fault but I was insured). Most people I know didn't have major issues with the Curve but I was not so lucky.

Ordered my Incredible yesterday. So ready to make the leap. :D
