From BB to Incredible (Have issues, need help, advice)

+1. This is exactly what I would like, too!

I am not happy with the lack of locking options coming from a blackberry.

This is problem I face:
I am waiting for a huge page to load, or downloading something from the market and I am not interacting with the phone. I have the screen set to turn off in 30 seconds to conserve battery. Every time the screen turns off I have to enter the unlock pattern! Annoying!

Here is what I would like to do:
Only lock the phone and require the unlock pattern IF the phone is manually put to sleep with the power button, or if I havent touched the phone in XX minutes. It would be great if the screen could turn off, but NOT require the lock pattern until its been off for XX minutes.

Any ideas how to do this for free or a cheap app?

I'm heading over form a Blackberry Tour. Wait, I just sold it.. But I've been testing out the Motorola Droid for about a week or so. And I'm diggin it...MY Inc. is coming in tomorrow and I can't wait... I am so happy to leave the BB.

I am a super hard core BB user for a long long time. The first BB I used is the 71xx series, then I move on to the other model from the 83xx-88xx ..... to the Bold 9700. I already tried/used every model BB available on the market ... And just last couple days ago, after having so many issues with T-Mobile and the 9700 itself, I figured out that "This is time for something new ...."

I acknowledged that I used my BB's mostly for sms, email and IM. I carry my BB everywhere I go, even to bathroom or to the bed with my gf. She was so mad at me because I once said that: "I can leave without my gf for a couple weeks, but not with my BB, even for a day!"

When I decided to come back to my family plan with Verizon and buy the INC, I already expected a difficult transformation from BB habit to a new device platform. I tried the iPhone before, so I know that the virtual keyboard is not like the physical qwerty. However, the BB device and OS is getting too old to me. They don't change much since the "brick 6xxx" to the elegant Bold's. And there is nothing new for me to explore ....

Now, I am waiting for my INC is scheduled to delivery by tomorrow evening ... I am so excited to use the new OS and device besides with some expected inconveniences of the virtual keyboard.

For conclusion, I still expect to see something really "new" from RIM with a new generation of BB, and I may come back. But for now and then, I am confident with my decision and will try to master my new INC for a short time

I switched from a Storm 9530 and I'm never looking back. I love the Incredible. Puts the Storm to shame!

Ya know that's exactly how I describe it to people too. It's not just the worst cell phone, it' the worst electronic device I've ever owned. And I've owned alot. Can't wait for my Incredible to arrive.

If you check out the BB fanboy site Crackberry, even there people have had it with RIM. When you're company is getting tons of negative comments on a site that's actually dedicated to your product, you're heading for big trouble. Bye RIM, hello Android!

I completely agree. The Storm must be the worst cell phone ever made.

I'm not gonna lie. I like Blackberry and my Storm2. I had a Storm1 when it first came out and understand why alot of people dislike it. The Storm2 is sooo what the Storm1 should have been. But that's all in the past.

I still like my Blackberry but I feel they are stagnant. They really need to do something to shake things up and from what has been leaked it doesn't look like they're taking that risk which is rather sad because they will be losing alot of customers to Android, iPhone, and perhaps WinPhone.

I didn't pull the trigger with the MotoDroid because I didn't like the keyboard and I still had high hopes for Blackberry OS. But the recent leaks of OS 6.0 doesn't make me anymore eager for the next Blackberry device.

Which is why I'm getting the Incredible next week. I've been following this device for awhile and I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. I can't wait to get it. XD

I posted a poll in CrackBerry forums' Storm 9530 Wants & Raves section - about how large the drop in BIS traffic over the past week must have been and basically polling how many of us are ditching BB altogether for Android & the DROID Incredible. Of course 40% of bitter fanboys of which I used to be one said that they were staying with the paleolithic BB platform. But I bet that there was a huuuuuge drop in BIS traffic in the past week. I don't feel bad - I really wanted BlackBerry to succeed but after I saw that they didn't give a s*** for their customers, I lost it.

You know, I actually loved my Storm at the time, served its purpose. Had a lot of glitches but I read the forums, used all the Hybrid OS's and really learned alot about the phone and the smartphone world in general, but now its a year and a half later, technology has improved and I love the new Incredible. A year and a half from now, I'll probably be saying how outdated the Incredible is... Thats how this works.

Get the free app in Android Marketplace called No Lock. Eliminates the need to swipe or enter pw. As soon as you press the power/lock button, it's right back to your homescreen.

Nice to see familiar faces around here from CB! I got bored and tired with my Storm and BB in general and when I learned about the Inc I knew my BB days were over. I havent been happier and know its only going to get even more awesome!

Yeah RIM needs to step up their game if they want to be in the runnings but I doubt they will do that. OS is behind, Phones are not up to par, Service Outages here and there (not as much lately) It's a shame.

My first Blackberry was the Curve 8330 back 1yr ago and that thing was a big POS and since I had a 2-year contract I had to buy a Tour 9630 used from a family member... It's better than the Curve but still blows. OS v5.0 is laggy, browser click issue, facebook app sucks, browser itself is gay, and screen is small.

Anybody NOT keep their CB name when they came over here?
I am the same here as on CB.....

I keep my same name on all forums. It makes it easier. Even though I don't own a '96 Honda Accord anymore lol

Yeah it really is dated and needs a complete re-work from the ground up. OS6 looks promising and a step in the right direction, however looks more like OS 5.5 rather than 6. Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary which is kind of sad, as they have a great opportunity to make something pretty awesome but just stick in doing what works and fine tuning rather than being innovative once again. I hope that changes but its not looking like that will be happening anytime soon.

I think that the OS6 will give them some new life, and there is a huge brand loyalty. However, if they don't step it up in the OS to match the Android and iPhone they are bound to see a decrease in their growth even greater than it already is.
RIM also is difficult to develop in as we all know

Well today I recieved my new Droid Incredible...I am so happy with this phone. It is everything my bb Storm 1 was not. One question...is it possible to have the Sense UI switch from the HTC/Verizon page to the work page when the phone moves to that area on the map? In other words when I get to work will the device change screens? If so, how can I set this up? Thanks!

I think the BB brand loyalty is overhyped and tends to be more prevalent amongst the 30+ crowd. I only got the Storm bc I didn't want to leave Verizon for an iPhone. Never used BBM bc all my friends had dumbphones and then everyone but me got an iPhone. I was the lone dude sticking up for BlackBerry but no more. What a waste of my life...all those countless hours spent wiping, rewiping, messing w/ hybrids and leaks...
