From iPhone back to the Note,,, life is good again

No compression of pics. Full resolution. Full HD Videos. No carriers involved etc. Facetime is great also. Its just that reg SMS and iMessage is integrated into the single app. No seperate App is needed. Its nice when you have many iOS contacts like I did. If you don't then its no a big deal.

You said no carriers involved. My wife has an ipad with no provider. No sim. Are you saying it is possible to imessage from her sister's iphone to her carrierless ipad? How? The ipad doesn't even have a phone number.

It certainly is possible. She can use iMessage with an email address as well. No phone number or cellular service is required.

I have an iPhone 6s and a Note 4. My Note 4 is my go to phone because of the awesome battery and expandability on the memory side but I noticed the gold Note 5 just showed up at T-Mobile so I'm seiously considering using a JUMP on my jod plan I have my iPhone on. I kind of like having an iOS and an android at the same time so I'm still on the fence about it. Especially with the possibility of the Priv showing up at T-Mobile soon.

Can someone please explain to me the fascination with IMessage? I really don't understand. I know you can see when someone read your message but there has to be more to it than that because that feature really doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

Here is another issue. I am the only one in my family who does not have an iphone. When the other members send out a message to the group, I do not see the messages at all because I am not on imessage. It is even worse when there are 4 or more people in the group. The rest of the family hates to use things like Whatsapp, so I tend to get left out.

It is the ONLY thing I miss about the iphone.

The only thing the new iPhone does better than the Note 5 is slo mo video,, for slo mo video the iPhone rocks,, but that's about it.

As the OP of this thread perhaps I should mention "some" the reasons that made me dump my new iPhone 6s for the Note 5.

Note 5, wifi and cellular calling, iphone can only do one or the other but not both at the same time.
Note 5, 16x9 widescreen still photos, iPhone takes old school 4x3 ratio still shots.
Note 5, records video in stereo, iphone still records video in mono.
Note 5, works flawlessly with speech to text, Iphone speech to text is really bad.
Note 5, bigger better screen with smaller lighter phone, iphone, smaller screen with massive bezels making the phone bigger, heavier and harder to hold.
Note 5, the S pen is a biggie that I really missed.
Note 5, for me, better consistent still photo quality especially in low light, iphone, many of my 4x3 still shots looked like I was shooting thru a mist of fine smoke in med to low light (iPhones have always done that).
Note 5, I'm back to 5 full bars and LTE and noticeably better call quality in my house, iphone, never more than one bar and never any LTE at home.
Note 5, fast charging, iphone, semi slow charging.
Note 5, private mode, iphone, need to download and use photo vault or something similar.
Note 5, big contact pictures, iphone tiny little to small to really mater contact pictures.

Anyhow, those are just a sample of "some" of my reasons for coming back to the Note series from iphone,,,,,, and I'm not bashing the iphone, even with all the things the iphone can't do or does badly I still think it's the second best phone to be had, it's just not as good as the Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 series of phones.

Agreed with all of these, one additional thing that bothered me is the Swift Flow Keyboard always reverted back to the stock keyboard no matter how many times I tried setting it as the default keyboard.
Very Frustrating.

Everyone for the most part gets used to the size of a Note or an iPhone 6 Plus very quickly, with that being said the Note 5 is very much noticeably smaller and easier to use than the 6 Plus.
The bigger phones do seem intimidating at first but after a week of ownership they feel quite normal.
If the Note size does not work for you the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are basically the same phone as the Note 5, just smaller and no S pen.
And if you have an iPad you still get to use iMessage and FaceTime (that's what I do).

PS, know just about nothing about Apple products. Always been a Win Phone user until the Note 4.

yea, the building I work in is horrible and I'm about to be moving to where I will really need it and for some reason in the burbs now, the microcell is something i had to rely on. AT&T is kinda crap everywhere i am it appears except driving for whatever reason so with that, if the note 5 had it, that would be great! i wonder when that is scheduled to be.?

Do you mean accessing and using the internet on WiFi and talking on the phone via your cell service at the same time ? I had the iphone 3 and the 6. I could always do both at the same time. I was with AT&T.

I went to the Note 4 as I wanted a bigger screen and the Note offers way more features. The iphone 6 plus was a deal breaker because it didn't make sense to have the same size battery as an iPhone 6 and there are way more capabilities with the Note. The thing I liked about the iphone is that the iphone 3 lasted me through 5 years of heavy use and it still works great except the battery is shot. They also retain more value so I was able the sell the 6 and buy the Note. The only reason I had the iphone 6 was because my wife bought it for her son who ended up in a nursing home so he never activated it. It's not likely he's getting out so I used it for about 7 months. I'm hoping the Note will have the same kind of longevity (which is my main concern) as I don't like changing phones often. The replaceable battery and upgradable storage was a biggie along with the screen size and S pen plus so much more. Overall the Note kicks the iphones *ss though from reading these forums I see that Android can be finicky.
