from sprint to straighttalk on used sph l710

You are wrong Mr. 3rd level whatever. I am using a Sprint Galaxy S3 and have for months with Page Plus. I guess you aren't the know it all you thought you were lol. You do NOT have to have a sim card phone for them but you only get 3g data which isnt a huge deal.

You read his post wrong. You might want to rethink what you just posted.

ST uses t-mo, at&t, vzw, and sprint towers. Like mentioned though you can not flash a 4g lte phone to their networks. It will probably come sometime. As for page plus, they are cdma(verizon mvno) so you can flash it to them. Even though 3g is basically a thing of the past, you can activated a verizon 3g phone to page plus for free. Takes about 2-3 mins

What is page plus? And why should I care? Oh right, it's a crappy fly by night prepaid cell service. That uses sprint towers to run their network. I was talking about flashing a specific carriers phone to another carrier. And I'll ask it again, why would you? To save a few bucks a month, not ever have a chance at 4g, and be SOL when it comes to customer service? Have fun with that.

And i never said it wasn't possible to get a sprint phone onto another sprint run network, such as virgin mobile, boost, helio, and page plus! It just isn't very plausible. You lose alot more than you'd gain by downsizing your cell provider. So whatever you 1 poster, and you're right, i don't know everything, but i know alot more than most. Now prove me wrong

This is correct, but page plus is a verizon network, not sprint.

As for flashing, its all fine and dandy if your flashing a 3g phone, but a 4g phone isn't so great unless you dont have 4g to begin with. There are some downfalls to flashing. Im currently on ntelos and when I got with them I chose to flash because the phone selection wasnt that great. When flashing a phone nothing is really promised to work. In a lot of phones data is going to be your most common issue. A lot has to do with the phone, as well as the flashing company used.

I was looking into this subject myself yesterday (flash to boost, virgin pageplus etc)... I looked into straight talk and found they sell/use various SG3 models... Of course they use GSM phones but also GS3 CDMA-S (Sprint Towers) Walmart Site. GS3 CDMA-V (Verizon Towers) Don't recall where I saw this one. So, there is a possibility but someone much smarter that me would need to figure it out...

I checked out Straight talks GS3 CDMA-S but alas the site sez it won't work in my zip code... Hmmm... But it will work 50 miles south in my home town of Santa Barbara. I'd be gone if it would work here. After nine years with Sprint I've had about enough of them.

There's a good thread related to this subject at XDA. It's titled Note II but also applies to the GS3.

Doesn't St use Verizon towers? I think they do. Or at least in some areas they do

If you go to Walmart.com they list the carrier for each model right beside the phone name For instance Samsung GS2 GSM-A is ATT and Samsung Galaxy S3 CDMA-S is Sprint and So on

I dont believe they use T in my area, crappy service are for them. I actually learned all of this over the last 2 weeks when flashing a couple phones.(I'm learning on that, so far, so good. Lol

Hey anything for the buck $$$

What's really stupid is that if you go to Straight Talk.com and put in my zip code They give you all GSM phones on T-Mobile When T-Mobile only has EDGE in my area But as you said its all about the $$$

Roaming purposes. Most likely they are set up to use sprint towers when roaming in some areas. I have ntelos and they have a partnership with sprint. Ntelos has their own towers, but say I go somewhere with out ntelos towers, I will then hit off of sprint. When using the sprint towers it is like using a ntelos tower. No roaming. If I roam I use verizon towers. That is on prepaid.

If on a ntelos contract then the roles played are a little different. They use sprint and verizon for normal use towers. Basically its determined by the area.

But ya page plus is a verizon mvno. You can actually take a verizon 3g phone with good esn and put it on page plus for free. They however make you flash 4g vzw phones. Im guessing so the phone can work wether it has a sim in it or not. If I wanted to lose my razr maxx Id go find me a cheapo vzw 3g phone and get the lowest plan on pp just to save money. I dont use a 1/10th of a gb during the month anyway

Havent replied in a while but this is more of an update I jus bought a straight talk phone as a dummy phone and yes it does run on sprint towers I called and asked which tower would I b using they told me sprint ...so I guess I can bring a sprint device over

Not if its a 4g phone. If you do you will need to find a third party flashing service (local) that can get it to work. Might be hard to find. Most wont do it because it involves cloning the esn. Same way with flashing to boost. The take a dummy boost phone and the esn and rewrite it into the phone your going to flash. So the computer will think you are using for example a boost incognito, when really you will be using a note 2, s3, or whatever you desire.

To use a sprint phone on straightalk would require a few things 1 you need cdma workshop just google 2 u need your usb drivers for your phone. Also need to know how change com port. 3 you need a smart ish phone with verizon to flash the esn imei. After the reflash you call straightalk an activate your phone under the esn you flashed now if you have a 4g phone I havent yet found out how to use there 4g cuz sprints sim try is for 4g only and is locked on there bands.
