FroYo: Awesome Upgrade perspective thread

I just hope all the "Froyo screwed me" threads dont detract from the awesome upgrade that was FroYo.

I put this on another thread:

My wife and I have had a zero problem experience, so FroYo was a win on both of our phones.

Keep things in perspective. There are thousands of Dx users, about 60 of them have had issues. So FroYo has about a .1% screw up rate? I like having a 99.9% pass rate!

The only reason it seems like a flood of issues is because right now, anyone having issues is looking for help on the internet and landing here, many people reporting problems have less than 10 for a post count.

I dont even have the official 2.2, I have the original leaked 2.2 with an modified build.prop and I have 0 issues lol.. everything works great for me.

I wish there was a poll to see just how many of the tens of thousands have had a problem.

I bet the rate really is 1 in 1000 or better.

So far zero issues on my phone and one minor thing on DW's X. Her ringtones were mixed up for contacts. No biggy. Both phones are stock.

I'm loving the 2.2 all but the POP email date showing incorrect. Love the new photo gallery, and getting used to the new calendar look

Im not having any issues with 2.2 either. I was starting to feel a little guilty because there's a good amount of people that have problems but now im just feeling grateful

I am firmly in this camp as well. I waited until this evening to update so time will tell, but right now it appears that this update is unleashing the phone's real potential. I have ZERO problems and the phone is so fast and responsive it is kinda hard to get your head around. Process took an entire 18 minutes from start to finish and I cannot find anything at all to complain about. LP+ and Handcent came through flawlessly...... Such a fantastic upgrade so far.

I would have to agree with Dural - with the exception of the lock screen nuisance, I'm loving it!

Its nice, we 'flawless' updaters can lounge out in this thread without the hassle of the obviously super buggy FroYo updaters running around ...

I figured out the problems I was having (thanks to androidforums) and went back to stock, upgraded no prob, after a day of teeth gnashing.
Got to say, everything is working really great. I don't really care about the slide to unlock being slow, when I'm on it I'm on it for a half hour at a time
New camera ui is great. Speed is better. Battery is better. Swype is better. Apps to sd! FLASH!
In short, yeah, awesome.

I'm happy with FroYo...now...
I had to do a hard reset and then a soft factory reset, but no big deal.
Reinstalling apps now.
Pro:Squeaky clean FroYo on the X
Con: Battery Usage stats still FC's on occasion. Again, no biggie as I'm not checking it often anyhow.

Im so happy you can now have a sound when locking the phone. I missed that after switching from an iphone.

I discovered that a factory reset on my X resulted in all apps being re-installed automatically, as part of the reset!!!

I did one factory reset after the initial upgrade (to try to fix an issue with contacts - which is still there). Had a glitch in an app icon stuck in the trash can on the home screen, so did another factory reset. Lo! ALL apps back in place! Couldn't believe it!!

All I had to do was go through the settings again, and back in business. There is a LOT to say in favor of the 2.3!!! Count me in as a supporter!!!

Operator error is, as usual, a major player.

I am loving froyo so far. I updated, rooted, and have been enjoying the updates immensely. I did have the phone randomly reboot once while listening to music but have had nothing happen since.

The only thing I can complain about so far is flash games from addicting games will crash the browser when it loads the pregame ad, but that is no fault of froyo.

So far the only issue I have had was the screen lock and that's fixed. This was easier than any upgrade I did with my Storm. Of course my phone was not rooted and I don't have a ton of apps loaded.

It seems that alot of folks are having problems with the 2.2 Froyo update, and are winding up with issues that were'nt there prior to 2.2

Anyone have any thoughts???.... Would it be better to get a Droid X with 2.2 installed from the Factory? Thats means you have a clean install, instead of installing on top of 2.1, maybe some of the issues with Froyo 2.2 are stemming from the install process occuring?

Operator Error causes trouble as well, I found that out with my Blackberry 9700

Have any of you Genius's in this thread seen a "Major Improvement in Performance" of the Droid X? It was pretty damned fast before, How is it now?
