Froyo update for X coming august 15th

I just walked out of verizon retail store and the rep told me the froyo release date for the X is August 15. He said they got an email with the release date. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back as it is very common

That seems to fit in with the "Late Summer" release they are planning for. If this is true that he got an email about it, I'm sure that email will be leaked by another employee somewhere.

There's no way it's released on the 15th. That's a Sunday. They wouldn't release a major software update on a Sunday. They need full staffing to account for any problems. I'd bet on a Tuesday release.

Actually, it is pretty good timing for release of Froyo, given that there might be an unlocked bootloader by then! I'm going to let the dev's do their thing, wait patiently before doing any rooting, etc...in case there are any glitches or kinks. I want the official OTA update to Froyo on my phone, with as many bugs already worked out of it. THEN, if they have unlocked that bootloader, root is in the future.

About this froyo, do you guys think us X users will feel the same way about froyo as some EVO users?

Like do you foresee a drastic change when froyo comes or will it be more of a heavy "behind the scenes update"

Well I for one don't mind the wait if we get a nice update with froyo that fixes some of the minor issues we got and maybe add some new stuff.

Give me some smileys, fix the low ringer volume, and fix the camera app up along with Some froyo, the JIT, and flash and now we are talking. Fix the g mail issues and your in business and polish up a few things here and there and I'm happy.

I am not that picky and actually like the moto interface more than the sense ui on my friends Dinc. Just notice when I play around I find some things that makes it seam like they cut corners like the no smiley faces thing. Sense is definitely more polished no question but moto got potential if they listen to us and fix what they can. These are things that weren't an issue with the droid so I'm hoping it is just slight over looking when they made the new interface.

I don't think we'll see tons of speed boosts like other phones, they OS seems pretty damn snappy to me already and my friend who played with it Saturday said it was already much faster than his original droid. I think Flash will be a nice addition, but that will be about the only major thing to change on the phone IMO

We'll definitely see a speed boost. 2.1 is nice but 2.2 is definitely better. I've seen the difference when I had my D1 and can't wait to see how much faster my X will get. I don't care much about flash though. I just want more speed.

basically all i want is the 5x speed boost that froyo has, and flash. Thats it.
