I just ordered mine online from verizon. I specifically asked when FROYO would be updated on the Droid X. The sales rep in live chat said she would ask and was gone a few minutes. When she came back, she said it would be shipped with the FROYO update version 2.2 preloaded.

Not sure if that is true or not, but it is what I was told online by the verizon live chat sales rep.

Once again I think this depends on the rep you get. When I asked a phone rep what version my Droid X would ship with, she replied "um, with droid". I said what version of android? and she replied "X"......

Verizon reps in my experience tend to say what you want them to say, but that does not always translate into truth. They have lied to me several times so I do not believe anything they say........EVER.

My guess would be the article and the reps are getting the Dx and D2 mixed up.

But if this is true, I wonder how many 2.1 Dx owners will find something wrong with their phone for an exchange since everyone is still under the 30 days.
