Froyo ETA Set

I wonder how many of us will start trying for this update after midnight...

Not me. I haven't the slightest interest in the new OS until people with more time than me can successfully root and open up the wifi tethering. Too valuable to lose that app for a few minor upgrades.

Just not worth it for now.

can anyone on here attempt to look for updates by going to settings>about phone>system updates? mine is greyed out.

Received my DX last week and have not activated it yet with Verizon. (I was waiting for the Froyo update to be released before I started the 30 day clock ticking). I have been using it connected to my home and work networks.

When I go to the Settings/About phone menu the "System updates" is not bright white like some of the other options on the menu (ie Status, Legal information, Safety information). If I tap on the "System updates" option it does not turn red like some of the other options (that are bright white letters) but instead turns a light gray color. I also see no messages like other have posted here when they press the "System updates" option.

My question is, when other DX owners press on "System updates" what colors, messages, etc appear on your DX?

Guess I may have to activate my phone before pulling down the Froyo update.
Looking forward to seeing what others think of Froyo on their DXs in the next couple days.

I stand corrected on my earlier post regarding pinch on the home screen. The two people in my office do NOT have that option on their droids and confused that with pinch to zoom in general.

Dont be quick to call us all whiners.... we bought something based on a promise for an update to come that would provide features that some of us otherwise would have purchased another device.

I dont know about you, but I for one came to the X from the very publy botched Storm line from BB. I have significant reason to doubt any device maker or wireless carrier when an OS is delayed like this. Very justifiable cause for being skeptical.
I would love to see some of you non-whiners get shafted and see how you react.

ABOUT TIME! Kinda coincidental, 2.2 on 22. I don't care, I've waited patiently since the first week the DX was released for the update, despite the temptation to install the leak and root my phone.

Sure can. I tap 'System Updates', get a message that says 'Checking for available update...please wait', and then a box pops up after a couple of seconds that says 'Your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time.'

Of course, that will all change in another 15 hours or so.

Exactly. While there were rumors of it here and there all I remember officially is 'by the end of summer'. Does it suck it took so long....yes. Did I lose any sleep over it....no. Did I check the forums constantly for news of it....maybe. Do I use an ellipsis too much....absolutely.

I came from the BlackBerry Storm 1, and I've been fine waiting. Have I been impatient? Yes. Still, I'm okay waiting because the X is so much better than the Storm was.

Good point. It really isn't a fair comparison; the Storm required updates just to be functional. While I want Flash and the other improvements 2.1 is hardly unusable. I loaded the leaked 2.2 for a couple of weeks and it was really cool, but hardly life changing.

Times 3. At least with the DX, I know that Flash IS COMING. No hope at all from Storm.

EDIT: I know my waiting time for Flash is much shorter than any of those poor fools with the Apple phone.
