Froyo ETA Set

Yeah even when I ordered my DX a month ago now they said it already had froyo 2.2 it "meow"...LoL :p, and then I corrected them and they said oh , ok your right,.... that was a supt. actually ......I'm not looking for froyo "officially" before Thanksgiving and then if it happens sooner it will be a welcome "surprize" :D

So when the VZW official version is OTA, will we be able to update to that over this leaked version?

I would strongly advise EVERYONE who updated to 2.2 runs an sbf flash and factory reset just for the sake of being completely clean. I don't trust this whole "well I already have psuedo 2.2, so this new update will overwrite the other nonsense completely"

Be safe and do it right the first time. Just flash it clean and get the official OTA. I know I will.

And then wait for FROYO root so I can delete the bloatware and move on with my life!

Let me go back in time when the Storm1 was released and throw this out. Motorola let this OS leak it wanted a couple thousands real world beta testers to find the bugs. Just like rim does with its OS leaks.

Great point, I was one of those saps...

Your wrong, just buying the Storm 1 or 2 made you a beta tester regardless of what version OS RIM released for it.

Whoa...

Flashback to Dec, Jan, Feb, March, April with the Eris. The reps don't know and/or don't give a rat's arse.

You're right. I was also one of those "saps". The entire time that I had the S2....RIM NEVER got it right.

Froyo Update Waiting Room

Take this for what it is ... Got a tip that the Froyo update was supposed to drop Sept. 2. Wait 15 minutes, and the same tipster says they got a message saying it's been postponed.

We're hoping to get a new rumored date. :) Stay tuned, folks.

I, for one, am being very patient in waiting for Froyo. I am really enjoying my X with 2.1 and all of its Droidy Droidness.

Most people are not being patient (like myself). Now I need to go back to 2.1 from my leaked 2.2 so I can enjoy that Frozen Yogurt goodness!

I'm already on Birdman's FlyX ROM so personally, I couldn't care less but I hope a stable release is out soon for the rest of you guys.

re: Froyo Update Waiting Room

Well its not a big surprise that an update is delayed but I'm already rocking 2.2 so guess it doesn't matter anymore :)

If your impatient about updates Verizon isn't the service for you. Verizon will apply pressure to get an unfinished OS/Hardware out the door for a given release date (why they screwed Microsoft over on the Kin pricing) but they probably have the tightest post release update testing.

They would rather someone use a broken release version, then update them to a more stable OS, based on even 1 or 2 bugs. The future releases have to be pretty much bug free. They seem to allow one very quick day after release update, but that seems to be the minimum of they update benevolence.

Anyone who has used a storm 1 knows exactly what I am saying.

I can wait. I'm not interested in the leaked rom, or the cooked rom. I had my fill of custom roms when I had a Nexus. Plus I found once I loaded a custom recovery/boot loader, OTAs were a thing of the past. I could not install any official updates. That risk for me is far too high for my DX, so I'm content with what I have and will update to froyo when its ready.

I'm very happy with the leaked 2.2 until the real deal comes out. No more sluggishness.
