*sigh* i understand the delay is for our benefit, but i do hate it when this stuff gets announced last minute. i wasnt expecting it to roll out until 9/6 anyway, but "delay" always sounds too ambiguous for my liking.
I hope this doesn't end up like the Droid 2.1 upgrade, where it was several months after the expected upgrade date before it actually started rolling out.
+1 with this. Even Flash for the Droid was supposed to be Q1. Hopefully they have everything in order now and have learned from their mistakes (if they even saw the angry mob of people as one).
i think its pretty ridiculous.....
motorola, verizon give us a date already. i dont care if its a month from now when 2.2 comes out but i am tired of all of the hype and the rumors and the checking/waiting

If Froyo on the D2 is any indication, I'm cool with the DX on 2.1. With the same specs, the DX outperforms the D2 is almost all aspects. I was under the impression that we'd see a nice speed/performance bump with Froyo, but from what I've seen on my D1 (going from 2.1 to 2.2) and the comparison between the D2 and DX...I'm fine as is. If it slows down the DX I'm going to be pissed.

I'll be patient and wait for the official OTA. The phone is good enough as is for me (coming from a Storm 1).

I agree, i came from a Storm 2.
I understand and can wait for Froyo update, I prefer it to be released with the minimal amount of issues but I think it is time for a quick fix to be released for volume issue because a phone really isn't any good if you cant hear ringers to answer calls.., I have been patient but the volume issue needs to handled.

2.2 is out for a bunch other phones, also the droid 2. No reason this should not be out already. Thank you to the hackers of the world serves moto and vzw right.

And you're right, thank god for the hackers. I'm enjoying my leaked 2.2 with ROOT. I'm sure once the official OTA hits they'll have patched up even the D2 root method from us...

Today, tomorrow, next week, next month? Honestly is it that big a deal? Is your phone not providing everything you need right now?
Maybe I'm just spoiled since moving over from my Blackberry, but I love my DX just the way it is and would have sex with it in front of my wife and her lawyer to prove it if I had to.

The device has been working without issues on my part, but forgive me if I want to be able to hear my phone ring and use my gps without placing phone to ear, if you read my other post I have supported the wait because I can live with or without Froyo 2.2 but I cant live with a cellphone that volume ringer is muffled.. If they are going to put release date on hold then a quick fix for volume would be nice..
Also for the record I just got off phone with CS and I was informed that there has not been any report from Verizon's reps that says that the update has been pulled and should still be released as planned.... I am hoping that they are telling the truth on this fact and the original post here was incorrect.

So you love not being able to hear it ring or notify you of messages? You love the six hour battery life? You love having to toggle gps on and off? You love being able to only use 256 of the 512 mg of ram you paid for? Does it make you happy that exchange doesn't function or that bluetooth randomly doesn't work?
