Froyo ETA Set

"HIGHMEM support for RAM >256MB" this? Um, that is a greater than symbol.

"HIGHMEM support for RAM" this means basically your total device memory.

">" means whats to the left of this symbol is the higher valued item.

"256MB" is on the right side of the symbol, meaning its less than the opposite side.

So what we can gather here is that Froyo allows for support of memory that is higher than 256MB in size.

Clear? :)

Also I had some odd findings with RAM on this phone. I mean, I have yet to see a pure and simple readout that looks like this:

TOTAL RAM: xxxMB
FREE RAM: xxxMB
USED RAM: xxxMB

Everywhere I see listed memory, it doesn't tell me total nor does it add up to 512MB. It adds up to around 380MB everywhere I look. Very odd.

yes

thank you

I had to uninstall 2.2 today. Installed it the first day it got leaked, but was having some issues with it. First was when I traveled. I went to ATL two weeks back and the phone was acting up. It's almost as if it wasn't sure how to respond. If I tried to take pictures the camera would FC on me or not take pictures at all sometimes. Also it would mess up on its location. This even occurred to me in Reno this past weekend. The phone almost seemed to confuse itself.

My biggest headache though came when I would try and make calls. The 3G service and even the 1X service would not show. If I called someone I would not hear the phone ringing and I couldn't hear anyone if they did pick up. Also if someone called me during this situation, the phone would ring, but when I answered I couldn't hear anyone. It was good while it lasted, but I will have to wait for the official OTA to be released. :(

same thing happend to me

Sept 9 and I don't even get a message that I'm on the current OS version. My DX just tells me that "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later.", which is what I've been getting for the last couple weeks.

I agree with all of those who bought into the promises by Motorola and VZW that Froyo would be out for the DX "by the end of summer". I want it!

There are benefits to having Froyo. Not the least of which are the updates to the voice search capabilities (Google Voice Actions, not the pay app on the Market) you can find on the Android web site. WAY cool stuff! Here is an official YouTube post from Google about Voice Actions:

Then there are supposed to be speed increases (I'll never turn them down!) which should result in longer (at least nominal) battery life increases, the promised volume increase, improvements in how Android handles mail/calendar, and fixes for various bugs (GPS among others). All of these are reasons to look forward to the update, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS!

Anyway, I am personally tired of waiting. I hope Motorola and VZW get their "stuff" together soon so I can share in the Froyo goodness.

Oh, and I ALSO wish they would get started on Gingerbread ASAP! :p

Havent heard any news for a few days. Last I heard was that it was potentially going to be delayed. Whats the buzz on a new release date ?? Anyone ??

What really pisses me off on the droid x 2.2 update wait is that the droid 2 has 2.2 running blur. So what's the delay on the X? I mean it's not like the D2 is on sprint or something, it's on the same carrier, same manufacture, ugh. That being said, having owned the D2 for a few weeks, the DX is better with 2.1 than the D2 is with 2.2.

Do you feel its a hardware thing? Or software? Maybe that's why the delay they feel the same and want to make sure 2.2 doesn't "downgrade" the X?

Na start with the earliest so if it doesn't happen we can just move to the next timezone :)

I have heard, from a friend of a friend of a friend, who's brother's second cousin once removed works for the IT firm that manages the network of the accounting firm that audit's Verizon's books, that the update has been delayed to the end of September, September 31, to be exact.

As long as late summer is still the official word, they've got until 11:59PM on 9/21 to meet that.
