Froyo ETA Set

So you love not being able to hear it ring or notify you of messages? You love the six hour battery life? You love having to toggle gps on and off? You love being able to only use 256 of the 512 mg of ram you paid for? Does it make you happy that exchange doesn't function or that bluetooth randomly doesn't work?

Some of us are looking forward to an update

I live in a single story 4800 sq foot house. I leave my phone docked in the office and can hear it all the way across the house so the ringer hasn't been an issue for me. Seems plenty loud.

6 hour batter life? Mine has been off the charger since 6:54am this morning and still has over 1/2 a charge and I used it quite a bit today. Battery doesn't seem to be an issue.

The GPS isn't a big deal as I leave it off most of the time and only use it when I have a specific need for it.

Haven't noticed the RAM usage, quite frankly it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Exchange works perfectly. I get somewhere between 150 and 200 emails per day. No problems with mail flow or calendaring at all.

Bluetooth hasn't dropped a single time for me. Connect fine to the in dash NAV in my wife's IS350 and the Kenwood 9960 in my Sequoia.

Maybe I'm just a lucky one, but so far I haven't had any of the problems you mention.

well maybe you were lucky enough to get a perfect one

look i love my x its the best phone i have ever owned but i know what issues it has and since this is a free country im allowed to look forward to a software update all i want. just because you dont care doesnt mean other people dont

A co worker of mine with the D1 just got his 2.2 update yesterday.

Im coming from a Storm2, Storm1, Curve.... all Blackberry. Very Very happy with my DX on 2.1.... so Ill be patient.

Gotta agree with wildman - I could give a crap about 2.2 as long as I get a quick fix for the volume issues. Ironically, when I'm sitting in a meeting and I want to turn the volume off (put the phone on vibrate - which also needs some help) I can still hear my phone ring (albeit faint).

The DX is a phenominal phone and I'm happy with it. I just wish they would worry less about adding features and just fix some of the critical bugs by more frequent OTAs. Leave the features to the application writers out there.

Maybe you'd be happier with another phone if the Droid X isn't working out for you.

Most people have virtually no problems with their Xs, even after updating to the leaked 2.2.

I can wait. This isn't like the Storm was. I had multiple issues with every official, leaked, or hybrid OS I could get my hands on. My only current issue with my DX is the ringer volume, but it rarely makes me miss a call.

I had a couple of issues with my first DX. The GPS would freeze up sometimes, and in the car dock the music was always shuffled no matter how I set it. I got a replacement because of dead camera pixles, and the other issues went away as well.

The phone does what I want it to with only one minor issue. I can wait for a fully baked OS. I'd rather not break it when the OTA comes out.

I guess I'm just an optimist.

I'm very, very happy with my unrooted, blur-driven, 2.1 Droid X. I'm sure I will be even happier with my 2.2 Droid X whenever the OTA update happens.

I guess I'm just not enough of a tech nerd. I see nothing wrong with loving it as is, as well as looking forward to improvements.

I'm very lucky in not having any important issues with the DX, so there is no hurry for me. Also hoping that the delay is to help them resolve a problem or two with the OS, not because of scheduling priorities or infrastructure limitations.

Looking at the Incredible forum, it looks like a ton of its users got their Froyo update last night, so maybe that portends well for us being closer to D day.

Quote from an email I got from work the other day. No telling when it will be resubmitted.

I'm fairly new here and don't want to step on anyone's toes, however I am curious as to HOW you got that information.

I'm just wanting the information you just gave us validated or at least determine your credibility (Such as, is anyone on this forum able to vouch for this person's credibility in regards to getting this type of info from whomever and wherever.)

Listen, I'm not trying to be rude or insulting, I just would not like to see bad information passed around if it's not true or simply a rumor.

Yes, add my vote for patience - although it's sort of like waiting for a moveable Christmas morning. Maybe tomorrow. No. Next week. No. In a month. No. Maybe early 2011. And on...

If Christmas was on a secret day every year, you would have some very angry children before long.

It has been noted in this forum that 'some people' will never be satisfied, and will clamor for Gingerbread as soon as Froyo is released. This maybe true, but as Moto/VZ/Google have beat an incessant drum roll for the wonder that is Froyo, I'm getting a little antsy. My DX is almost perfect, but if the makers didn't want me to whine for the upgrade, they should have shut the hell up about how great it is, or at least not made it a central part of the sales pitch.

I missed the leak, but I'd install it in a trice if it did anything for the volume issue. From what I've read, it doesn't, but that just inclines me to believe the OTA won't fix it either. I said I was 'antsy' for the update, but the volume thing is making me mad.

It's like being in limbo. I'm assured by all involved, 2.2 will solve all these quirky little problems. But by the time it comes out, the return window is passed so I'm just SOL if it doesn't work right? Get the damn thing out already.

Today, tomorrow, next week, next month? Honestly is it that big a deal? Is your phone not providing everything you need right now?

Maybe I'm just spoiled since moving over from my Blackberry, but I love my DX just the way it is and would have sex with it in front of my wife and her lawyer to prove it if I had to.

Simply put....relax!

I hear there's an app coming out for that.

I'm glad you were so willing to take the time to dismiss the concerns of others for no good reason. Kudos.

Alright, let's not get personal about this meow.

Some people have issues that they would like resolved. Whether that's with 2.2 or not, they don't care, they would like them fixed and I don't blame them.

Same here, the beta 2.2 rocks and again if there's any improvements on the official release I can update the Droid the same way, right off the sd card. Androids rule.

nope.....love my X

just dont want people saying "there aren't any problems with it stop asking for an update"

fact is as long i can get my BT streaming audio to always work, flash, and lounder sounds i will be happy
