I have heard, from a friend of a friend of a friend, who's brother's second cousin once removed works for the IT firm that manages the network of the accounting firm that audit's Verizon's books, that the update has been delayed to the end of September, September 31, to be exact.

"Early September" my ***. The only thing I'm hoping for is that they're reallyyyy optimizing 2.2 for the Droid X so it doesn't end up like the Droid 2.

it was never early sept. i was and always has been late summer. summer ends 9/22. after that moto is late. ive noticed on a few sites that a 9/20 released is expected, BUT this is just a rumor

Those are off the top of my head.

I think automatic updates and Chrome to Phone are at the top of my list. I'm enjoying my DX, though, so I'm not really worked up about the timeline.

There is a lot of little things also, coming from the D1 that I had 2.2 on for a while, I got used to not having to update my apps, in the market the apps had there own comment tab to look at the comments, again not a big deal but just something I got used to and find I like better then the way it is in 2.1

I'm thinking of launching a blog where I can "leak", once a day, a different random day when Froyo is now rumored to be pushed. I will be right at least as often as anyone else.

The phone will tell you when an app has been updated and there is an option to remove the update

**you can even uninstall an update on 2.1**

I'm most looking forward to Flash, chrome to phone, and letting having my people widget in LPP work correctly with a little pop-up are at the top of my list. I'm of course also looking forward to the minor speed bump, enhanced stability/bug fixes (not that I've had any problems, but more bug fixes have to be good), and the auto update feature. Also, the updates to Gmail on the phone (including improved cut and paste) are high on my list.

There's also something more subtle I'm looking forward to...the X is the last flagship product to get 2.2, and we've already been hearing that Gingerbread products could be shipped (or at least announced) in late October. So I suspect that we'll be hearing a lot more from Google and company about 3.0 a week or so after 2.2 finishes its rollout to the X.

P.S. I know that the Galaxy S series doesn't have 2.2 either, but I don't think it's as important branding-wise as the Droid series to the Googlers.

Happens sometimes but I wouldnt worry about it to much
But most times it just says that Your device is up to date!
