Froyo leaked for the Incredible

Nope, because nothing anywhere said that those 2 steps were prerequisites.

Let me do that and try again...

802.11n

I was up until 5am last night running this install. It was worth every sleepless hour!

One question though, I thought Froyo was supposed to include 802.11n support? I haven't seen any settings or menus that mention it. Anybody know if it's working in this ROM?

JRE and JDK installed. Android SDK installed and fully updated. USB Debugging enabled. Still nothing - same scanrio occuring (it just endlessly says "waiting for phone" and "connect phone and enable USB debugging)".

Anyone have any idea when the leaked version that doesn't require root will be released? I downloaded the file and started going through the steps, but it obviously failed since my phone hasn't been rooted yet (don't want to void warranty).

Okay, finally managed to root with Unrevoked 3.

Haven't gone further yet because of XDA forum reports of several bugs in the ROM.

Noob too ... just tried to get Froyo 2.2 on my Incredible and missed the Unrevoked 3 part and went straight to the full wipe. Now, neither I or my Windows 7 pc can find the usb Andriod 1.0 driver, so my Incredible will not go pass the HBOOT USB PLUG / FASTBOOT "white" screen. Checked the andriod SKD but find only newer usb drivers that don't seem to work. Going back to do the Unrevoked3 thing only hangs at something like "waiting to boot ... ensure usb driver is installed".
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you don't have the boot loader drivers. Xda has a great tutorial for this with all the drivers ready to go. I'll find the link. This worked for me in one shot.

So I went with Froyo, but found it buggy. Random FCs here and there, screen flickering, Gmail not syncing with my second account... glad I made a nandroid backup of my working Eclair install.

I'm sure that I'm going to need to go back to the original radio to get future OTAs, but I don't have that kind of time right now. I should be able to run Eclair just fine with the new radio, right?

Open the folder where you unzipped the unrEVOked stuff. Click on the file that says "hboot drivers." It should have a symbol of your default browser.

That opens a browser window with instructions how to install the drivers as well as a link to the drivers themselves.

You can load Froyo up without root, but you'll wait for the devs to root that ROM.

Yeah. The OTA was written for the original stock ROM.

Did you wipe? That's the major cause of the little gremlins you're describing.

I did when it went to stock, but restored apps & system data from Titanium when I got to Froyo (didn't reinstall anything that Titanium warned me about).

I just finished instaling this. The one thing that I have found so far is that some of the apps I have paid for are missing from the market I will post again if that changes or if I find other things

That fixed it!!! Thank you.

So here is the good
G. maps renders faster
scrolling through apps is smother
new Gmail interface is much better
using landscape view on either side is great (on the apps it works with)
The new flash light app is great
You can finally turn on the flash for video
720p
Flash is great on most pages (some now are annoying because flash crap pops up that you didn't know was there before)
I am getting better radio reception. (not just more bars but in my house it went from-97 db to -91)
battery life maybe seams to be better but only time will tell

The not as good
More crap ware from Verizon
Car panel still doesn't rotate
had to load the patch above and reboot a few times to make everything work itself out.

So in my opinion this is definitely worth it.

I decided not to proceed after flashing the radio, getting the Droid bootup screen (with the red eye) but the baseware version did not change. I don't want to risk bricking the phone.

Ok fellas....help me out a bit please. Have Froyo and the patch update from xda for the marketplace fix. I can't get google listen to pick up my gmail account and my gps shows I'm hundreds of miles south of where I am actually located. Anybody know whats up??

Is anyone else experiencing these two issues that I am having.

1. Titanium keeps asking for su permission even though i tell it to remember. ( Saw this mentioned elsewhere but didn't see any follow up to the question)

2. any charging (wall, cig lighter, usb charge only) takes control of the sd card and I cannot run apps that require the sd card. Google Listen will stop and say SD card not installed.

Thanks

Did you remember to do the update for the radio before the root?

All these leaks are buggy. I want to think of reasons to keep root. Yet
-I love sense
-I don't need to run any roms
-They added a new flashlight (don't need root anymore)
-You can edit some info with your phone and use the hotspot app for free (don't need root or the wifi tether app)
-I don't really need to take screen shots
Only real reason to root would be to add or remove system apps. However I figure, do I really need some butchered Leak Rom that someone gives me without the radio. Or would an official (with radio and no bugs) be better.

Tough call really.:p
