Maybe it'll come on the 15'th as others have predicted. Ticks me off that the EVO has it and the Incredible release is sooooo slow, just like the HTC's ability to fill orders.

The true test of Google's coolness, will be whether 2.21 comes out after they've moved on to new phones. One could make the argument that 1.6 phones never got 1.61, but, there was not nearly the volume of G1s compared to Nexus 1, Moto Droid and Droid Eris. We'll have to see if they respect the masses of people that really got them off the ground, with tweaks and improvements down the road.

You do realize that Google has nothing to do with what goes on any handset other than the Nexus One right? It's entirely up to OEM manufacturers what version they put on (this 1.6 on the Devour and Balckflip when 2.0/2.1 was available to them) and weather they upgrade or not (why Samsung has refused to update so many of their phones to 2.1 let alone 2.2). Google releases the OS. The device manufacturers work around that (or not in some cases).

Oh and there is no way we will see Gingerbread (3.0) on anything except the Nexus early this fall. All Google has said was that the OS would be released in Q4, not when in Q4 or weather any hardware manufacturers will put it on any commercial devices. I personally don't expect to see it on anything but the Nexus (and maybe another device like the Droid) till after the first of the year. Google might like to see it, but it's up the the OEM's to actually do it.
