Hey, guys! I'm in NY, NY and am still skepitcally waiting for OTA update. At this point I have to see to believe. I got my Epic on release date & have had bubble burst MANY times with rumors. This finally seems to be official but I'm not getting hopes up too high. I had the first stage of update about 2 months ago( seems like only "Market" changed) but nothing else since. I've been going to the "About Phone" section of menu where it says "Update Firmware, etc.", since last night(Feb. 21) and so far the update hasn't been sent. I was tempted to try the "manual update" a little while ago since the steps seem simple; but dont want to make a mistake after all this waiting. The announcement claims that %100 of the Epic owners will have the update by 2/25; so its worth waiting a little longer.

It doesn't have Sprint ID, does it? I also heard some some people were having trouble with the camera. Any hint of that from people who got the update. Being a pessimist (go Vikings...sigh), I assume any update will need a subsequent fix.

Typically, my wife's phone gets updates before mine. Save me a headache, what should one do or not do when updating their phone to Froyo? I've heard that all your contacts should be backed up to your Google account and that you need to reinstall your apps from the Market. I also heard you should do a Factory Data Reset, but that sounds extreme. Any body with experience with the new update or moving to Froyo on another phone with any tips?

I got the OTA update this morning and have had no problems. Just checked my camera and it works fine.

In milford, Ct and nothing yet, and i have Full 3 bars (the most) of 4G.....I thought maybe people with 4g would get it first but i guess not. Oh, just so some of u know, i went to testmy.com and speedtest.com and 4g is about 700kB/s download. The best i ever got was 919kB/s. Its faster than my wifi and i have 30MB/s bandwith from optimum online boost. I downloaded 12 MB in 16 seconds. Lot of people saying sprint may go to LTE instead of wimax, but im VERY happy with my 4G speeds! Its in all my surrounding towns too!

Is it just me, or did new features come to the voice search? I may have never noticed it before..but when hitting the search button, then doing the voice part you can now do ALOT and its very very useful! I only noticed because I accidentally hit the button, then it was telling me instructions about all the things it can do.
Sorry if this is not new, or not the right place to put it, but I really like this feature, new or old.

When I woke up there was a msg on my phone that the update was ready, from that point it took less than 15 minutes.

another thing i've noticed is that when i turn on the screen it takes a little over a second for it to come up instead of it being almost instant before eb13

Hey Cabrone, hows things working since we updated to Eclair 2.1 (DI18) ?

Like a dream, thanks to you! Flashing from DG17 to DI18 was frightening due to the lack of familiarity in that area, but with your help and the help of the community it turned into a great outcome. The only issue I see is the incoming call images for the contact images pulled via Facebook are very pixelated but it has been like that since she purchased the phone. I assumed it was because it was on DG17. To be honest, I am have begun looking for options on trading/ selling my EVO for an epic. The screen is amazingly better, the phone is just more my style. Reason I did not get it initially was I was beyond my 30 days by 1 day when it was released.

Edit: Not fully related, where can one find the list of changes/ additions included in froyo?

It must not be based on location. My husband still doesn't have an update and I got mine 1st thing in the morning.

I got sick of waiting and got the update from the Samsung site directly. Worked like a charm. Lost all my apps, but that was expected. Used App Brain to help me remember what I had so I could get them back.

Overall a very happy camper.

Edit to Add: Of course I had to say that before I tried the camera. Hit the Camera app button and got a "camera failed" message. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

Edit^2: Hard booted phone and camera works now.

I just got off the phone with Sprint tech support here is what I learned. It will only be pushed to the phone ONCE so if you ignore the update notice on the handset you are screwed. Sprint for some reason can not push it through to handsets individually. You can of course take the phone to Sprint service and have them upgrade or of course try doing it yourself. If you didn't get the download invite by Thursday 2/24 you will have to visit a service center to update it.

It is more likely that whomever you spoke with is...wrong. I have a feeling ignoring it simply triggers the option under system update called update android to actually do something. The notion of it being a one time offer and you are SOL is unlikely. That rumor was flying around when the EVO was getting 2.2.

Shrew....glad somebody jumped on that.

So far it works alright. Only 1100 quadrant test. Cool new camera stuff. 4G isn't working tho.. I want that fixed asap!

Actually, I know for a fact it will work if you ignore it because I did. I had left apps open and thought that I should close them before doing the update. I Hit ignore or whatever maybe it said "install later" something like that...then closed the apps then I went to the system update place and clicked update android and it was there waiting on me.
