[FullHDMI] Official FullHDMI discussion

Thanks for the heads up but this is for 5 Rca not the regular three Rcas which do work there is member called fittek and has them abd they work. I know abut the converter I was going to get one before I saw what he posted and informed everybody on these cables.

heres the cable Amazon.com: HDMI to 3 RCA + VGA Cable M/M 1.8ft/6ft: Electronics

the other cable in the post above is a rgb not a regular rca. there is a difference.

Most people confuse rca with the type of signal its not its just the connector i have full rca cables that are much better quality than a hdmi and full 180p.

Its the source not the cable that needs to be 480, a cable isnt digital or analog its the signal you feed it thats either or.

boot problem

Been using the hdmi beta since it came out for public and using the hdmi kernals on the 26th been working alright these past couple of days till today when phone was acting weird so I did a reboot and it stayed at the white evo 4g screen and never loaded I reinstalled the rom and tested to see if me phone whould reboot fine so I did several times in a row to test it then I reloaded the hdmi kernals and hdmi app and it seemed to work but when I rebooted ,it did it again it stayed at the evo 4g white screen so from process of elimination the app or the hdmi kernals are making my phone not boot up after a restart.

2/25/11 sprint lovers rom 2.2 all in one

i got it to work, but noticed the notification icon would not go away no matter what. And was a bit laggy, but did work. But still good work progress to the creator!! THANKS!

and i noticed my battery was dying SUPER SUPER FAST! so since i currently have no every day use for this, i made sure i disabled everything and then uninstalled..

BUT NOW MY BATTERY SUCKS!!!!! i cant fix it either! Now when I charge it dies within like 2 -3 hours, its crazy. Even when I dont use it.

wipe dalvik and cache then do a full wipe and then restore your backup. should prolly help out alot.

You might want to check again man. There are 2 links in that post- one of them is 5 RCA (3 video 2 audio- aka rgb or component) and the other is 3 RCA (1 video 2 audio- aka composite). The seller flat out says it won't work and is a ripoff.

I know you can get full 1080 out of component (5 rca) cables. But you can't have a cable that converts a digital HDMI signal into an analog component (5 rca) signal. And you definitely aren't going to have a cable that converts a digital HDMI signal into an analog composite (3 RCA) signal. No way. Not possible.

Yes, the RCA is only the connector. But the signal it is designed and standardized to carry is an analog signal, while HDMI is a digital signal. So if you have RCA inputs on your tv, receiver, whatever, it is looking for a specific type of signal that is NOT the same type as an HDMI cable carries. It would be like plugging a USB cable into a headphone jack.

You need a converter, a cable is not going to work. I know lots of people sell those cables, but it's a scam. Just trying to save you a headache.

HDMI can NOT be hooked up with just a cable because its a digital signal.
Exactly.

Ok, i just got done testing the new kernel and its works exactly how i expected it to do and maybe a little better. It does run better than the netarchy 4.2.2 kernel i was running before the new one.
-O'clocked at 1.19GHz linpack ran a consistant 40 and quadrant showed an 1146. After about 5 mins Sense crashed went into a 4g boot screen loop and then just hung there. the screen flickering wasnt to bad, it was tolerable but could be a lil better.

-Now, O'clocked at 1.15GHz linpack ran an average of 38 and quadrant showed an 1157. I tested on a 19" LCD and the screen flickering was the same as before. I also tested this time on a 52" Samsung plasma and the screen flickering was less noticeable.

Both freqs were with supermode on then off. I have it set at 1.15GHz still like my old kernel and it still hasnt crashed yet. in my opinion 1.15 is the most stable frequency on my device.

Well just got my HDMI cable today and couldn't wait to try the app. Using the Netarchy SBC kernel and here are my impressions:

No sound output at all. Don't know if there is some hidden setting on the TV, a bad cable or what. I also tried with the native HDMI output on the phone with YouTube and no joy so I'm thinking it has something to do with either a setting on the TV, phone or bad cable. Will investigate further on another set.

App setup was easy and intuitive.
Initial flicker seemed to lessen with time and usage until it became quite smooth and flicker was gone.
Played HomeBattle 3D and screen mirroring was very accurate.
Tried Slingbox and got excellent screen mirroring only lag was the occasional lag in the app due to signal variations. Turning on WiFi solved that.
Upon shutting down the app, the phone began to lag horribly. I tried to shut down the app through Manage Applications but that did not solve the lag.
Rebooted the phone and all was right with the world again.

This has to be up there for break through of the year.

Oh yeah, and the "Donate" button works as well :-)

ROM: Myn's 2.2 RLS5
Kernel: Supplied Netarchy SBC Mod
HW002
26" Samsung 720p monitor.

Going to try on my 47" LG and let you know.

yeah, the fullhdmi one, i just got it earlier today and its basically the same one i was running before but with the added hdmi files. upon seeing the file name i kinda knew whut to expect for the regular stuff but the hdmi has worked great for me since ive flashed it.

Ok I undetrstanf this but the member I was talking about Fittek says that in 480p it will work because your niot convertong the image. He says has been using it and works fine. Thank you for info. Are you saying even without converting 480p it wont work.

Correct, it will not work at all. It is like taking a toslink (fiber optic audio) port (which is digital) and connecting it to a headphone jack (which is analog). The signal is totally different, even if you don't use high def or whatever.

I can guarantee you that it isn't going to work, so you might want to get your backup plan ready.

They do make converters that work though, so maybe that member was talking about one of those and it didn't come across properly in his post. But there is no way a cable that is HDMI on one end and RCA on the other is going to work, whether you are converting to HD or not. It takes some electronics to convert that signal.

Im running the stock 2.2 froyo demuxed(i think thats the correct term?)

actually my macbook pro has a toslink built into the headphone plug:D

I had to say it just to see how many people will get confused by it :D

You have got to love it. I am an old guy with my first cell phone, for all of 3 weeks now. In these 3 weeks I have successfully rooted and rommed if this is correct terminology? Running MikFroyo 4.4.
I read through this thread and decided to give it a try. Installed the kernel and fullhdmi app without a hitch. What a surprise to see the Sony 47" Bravia come to life when patched through the EVO. I am running the EVO HDMI through a Monoprice 4X1 switch then through a Atlona HD560 Pal/NTSC Scaler then out to the Sony only because this is my setup. The video is scaled perfectly on the big screen. Yes some flicker as posted but hey its early.

A Big thank You for this one

Please read my post in this thread:

As WatermelonSlim said, it will NEVER work, even at 480p. HDMI is a digital encrypted signal whether its running at 480 or 1080, and composite/component is an analog connection. You need a downconverter box for it to work, thats the only way. The reason you can find those cables online, there are a few PC video cards that will actually use the HDMI out port to output analog composite/component. Those cables will NOT work unless you have that specific video card.

FullHDMI on CM7?

Checkout the OP guys, updated the milestones list at the bottom.
Here are a couple vids of FullHDMI running on CM7:
YouTube - FullHDMI on CM7 - 1
YouTube - FullHDMI on CM7 - 2
This is the new version of FullHDMI which provides universal compatibility and runs on any kernel. In the videos above it is running stock CM7 with no special kernel or drivers used (no custom drivers = no hardware acceleration however).

This is only the "raw" code running. I do not have an apk yet and as soon as I package the whole thing it will be called public beta #2.
