[FullHDMI] Official FullHDMI discussion

The hardware acceleration is already build in the app?

The kernel has to have it for the app to work in HW mode which CM7 does. Just remember to disable "supercharge" mode as that tends to increase dropped frames. My current/demo setup is as follows:

CM7 Nightly 18 (no custom kernel)
FullHDMI (supercharge mode off)

market update is working great but have to reboot after everytime to get sound back to my phone

Interesting... I'm running the same rom as you (minus mods) but I didn't have an audio issue... Granted, I didn't do whole lot of audio during my quick test...
What apps were you doing audio through? And what settings in the HDMI app were you using?

i have the paid version from marketplace. great work. any sound soon? CM 6.1.2

Everybody's having this issue on cm6 and 7 including the "other guys". The cm team is looking at it but I don't expect to see a fix for 6 as they have moved their focus to 7.

Well shoot, there goes my common ground theory :)
Still, what app/apps and what settings? I'll have some free time tonight and I can try duplicating the sound issue with my rom

I had to stop and start alot of times when I shot the vids (have cats) and didn't have that issue. Backup you phone then try with a fresh install installing just the app and see if it still happens. If it does, then send Sam a log so he can look at.

I actually think that Orrebmas got it to "accelerate" with any rooted phone, on any kernel.

I have been out of the discussion for a few days, (been so busy enjoying the app, that I stopped reading about it!) But, my own personal experience is that I don't have a custom kernel, I just use savagezen for AOSP, and the app is flawless.

My brother is on Avalaunch Z3 (sense based), with whatever kernel is packaged with that rom, and he has phenomenal results with just the app and his rooted phone.

I may be wrong, but my understanding is the custom kernel just gives you audio control.

so anybody have the kernel for the aosp roms? (cm7)

I am using it on Ultimate Droid 3.1 (which is based off CM7, but I like it better), and I never installed a special kernel. So far it has been flawless. Try it without messing with a kernel, and if you don't like it, let us know.

Isn't it needed for hardware acceleration too? The OP reads:

"Kernel: HDMI drivers had to be modified to enable hardware acceleration, and a special kernel is required as the drivers have to be compiled in. The kernel is needed for one of the two main modes of operation (see modes of operation below). It is necessary to run in hardware mode, but not needed for software mirroring."

Or perhaps this hasn't been updated?

Can anyone using the stock kernel confirm if hardware acceleration works on your set up?

Savage uses CM source which has the HDMI already in it and toast has been sneaking it in as well.

I only installed that kernel this morning, and used it this week without it.

I have looked a little deeper, and I think I am wrong about hardware acceleration. I think you guys are right that you need a custom kernel, my bad.

But, I will say this, between me and my brother, who also owns an evo and bought this app, we have tried about 4 different kernel and rom combinations, 2 Sense, and 2 AOSP, and it's ran perfect on all scenarios without anything custom.

It may not be true hardware acceleration, just a solid code to begin with, but I am loving this app! And I love how universal it is. Great work Sam.

Is there any way we could get the first post updated to reflect kernel requirements, or lack thereof? I'll rewrite my trouble shooting guide and post it as well, just give me some feedback on what you would like to see. This may cut down on the confusion for new visitors.

Hate to be a bother but I'm also curious as to when 720P will be re-enabled.

I apologize I have been overly busy I didnt have time to update the first post. It will get updated tonight after work.
FullHDMI does not require a special kernel and will work in Hardware mode (which will be the only mode in next release) regardless of what kernel you have installed.
Custom kernels allow you to control where audio should go, phone or HDMI, and provide about 35% more FPS.

I will put time into making 720p flawless but will be included as experimental in the next update. I will be investigating other resolutions as well but this will definitely need new drivers.

How did you pull that one off? Sweet! The requirement will still be rooted phones correct? (taking notes for the troubleshooting guide)

If you check my analysis a couple pages back the only resolution lower than 720 that's hardware supported is 1024x768. You add that with 720 and you'll have everything covered.

a couple of questions:

- it would help to know what time zone you're in, in order to determine when "tonight" means
- any plans on adding HDMI support to netarchy's 4.3.2 CFS SBC kernel?

thanks

I agree I too work and go to school and don't have time to learn all the tech stuff. But that is why Sam can sell his product. That's capitalism. I use a skill I possess to earn money so I can pay others to perform a task I cannot. Either way Sam rocks and so do all the other developers that make it possible for people like me to enjoy my device
