So I just woke up to the heart breaking sound of the low battery indicator after taking it off the charger fully charged 6 hours ago :( I'm really at a loss here guys.

Battery usage since taking it off the charger:
While last unplugged for 6 hours 12 min
Cell Standby: 32%
Phone Idle:28%
Wi-Fi:15%
Display:13%
Android OS: 8%
Android System: 4%

Display is at 30%
Only g-mail and Facebook syncing every 4 hours
WiFi on at home
Only default clock/weather widget running

Installed Apps:
Tikl
Facebook
Gmail
Launcherpro
Androidify
Word Feud

Is my unit defective?

Let me start out by saying that I'm a pretty light user of the phone. I do some web surfing of news sites, I use the built in music app to play music via the TB through to my car stereo, a quick phone call here and there and maybe a text or two. I don't watch youtube, play videos, watch movies and my gaming consists of a few games of solitaire here and there.

I have my phone rooted and have removed Blockbuster and Vcast, Golf and other stuff I have no intention of using. I'm getting an easy day and a half before needing a charge, overnight I'm on wifi at home and am usually using wifi for data but ocassionaly use 3G as I'm not in a 4G area and I have LTE turned off and the phone set to CDMA and PRL (auto). Overnight my phone only drops about 2 or maybe 3 percent.

I have the Sense weather set to update every hour and I have all GPS and location services turned on.

Either something is eating your battery and you need to find it or you have a defective phone.

From what I see, your numers look pretty good. You phone is sleeping.

Do you have friendstream or twitter widgets running?

Here is what I would, if it was mine:
1. Do a batery pull, wait 30 secs to 1 minute put back in.
2. Charge til green led. Unplug
3. Charge until green again(while off)
4. repeat step 3 until you can unplug, and plug back in and light goes green fairly quickly.
5. Turn phone and see results.

You might have to re-do steps 2-5 for several days in a row.

If no improvement, might consider a battery replacement.

I just noticed that you have ESPN Scorecenter listed in your apps. Are you sure that this isn't running in the background all the time? If so, it will eat your battery alive.

I don't think its constantly running, because it only updates when I open it...it has its own widget that constantly updates, but I haven't used that yet

from what i've read... to get a "decent" battery life, you need to turn off everything... dim the screen close to unbearable and you should be fine

Download the juice defender beta everyone's been talking about, it will make sure your phone is using nothing when your not using it ... when the screen is off it will shut off all data and radio signals, and when you aren't using apps it will stop them from running in the background, it will only use data and radio when you turn the screen on and tell it to open apps, its like a use only at my command type of deal ... I was skeptical about it at first but caved and installed it yesterday because of the rather bad battery life i'd been having the past 3 days .... best decision ive made so far with this phone because of this app yesterday after i pulled it off charger i got through 8 hours with only missing 20% of my battery because of all the things it turned off when the screen was off and i wasn't using the phone ... if anything at least give it a try and see if it helps, you seem to be in a rather bad spot with your battery and this couldn't hurt to try right?

At a glance I would agree, you should be getting more standby life. Are you in a 4g area? on the fringe of one? Before returning I would probably do a factory rest and set up the minimal accounts and update existing apps. Full charge and once again let it sit overnight off the charger again.

If you're drained again take it back. Any VZW rep would have a hard time arguing that method

I use juice defender as well but don't want it to shut off all data and radio when the screen is off. Doesn't make sense to do that. Luckily you can adjust the settings.

However, I do use another app called Ring Scheduler to automatically put my phone in airplane mode every night from 1am-7am. Calls will still come through, but all data is off so nothing can drain the phone while sleeping.

With this method, I lose 10% of battery overnight.

Did you install Cardio app? That did it to me, after i uninstalled that app I am back to normal.

took my phone off charger yesterday morning and it lasted till 6:00 pm today, im quite impressed, i do go to the manager and turn off everything that is running, except system items

A simiar thing happened to me a couple of nights ago, i fully charged my tb before bed so i took it off the charger. When i woke up it was completely dead! I thought maybe it just turned itself off somehow like my old lg versa would do but when i turned it back on it said 1% battery. This has been an isolated so im not too worried about it, i still love this phone. Im always in 4g at work and home, its so fast! I downloaded juice defender today and havent really noticed a difference yet, does everyone leave it with the default settings or is changing it somehow make it more effective?

where do you keep the phone at night? i had this problem with my droid. if i kept the phone on my night table while sleeping the battery would drain fast overnight but if i left it by the frontdoor the battery drain was minimal. i had a much better cellular signal by the frontdoor than i did in the bedroom

I only lost 3% over 7 hours with wifi on. Try factory reset then switch to launcher pro

I don't know if this will help but I had to do a factory reset and after doing it I noticed my phone battery started to drain all over again, it would be fully charged off the charger and drain before my eyes, therefore I had to tweak the phone back to the way I had it and do a bump charge, I no longer see it draining like it was but I will do one more bump charge to get the full affect of how I had my phone prior to reset. Good luck :)

Had the same thing happen on mine...try this trick that works for me everytime, put it in Airplane Mode when u goto bed.

When u wake up it might go down 1 of 2% but that's it, granted u won't have any calls, texts of push notifications coming in, but your asleep so why would u need them coming in anyway right?

Give it a try :]
