Are any of you worried about getting updates very late or not at all being that it's sort of a niche product? How was the s5 active in terms of updating?

If it's anything like S4 Active it'll be the red headed step child of ATT unfortunately

I'm not too worried about it. If it gets updated, it gets updated. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

I plan on holding onto the S6 active until the S7 active comes out. :)

That is exactly what I was thinking it was going to be. But I think the S4/S4A had some more differences between them than the current S6/S6A. So maybe they won't be left completely out of the loop.

I think our only hope will be through the development community. These phones are 100% identical to S6 so as long as we get a developer on board we should be fine

Dunno about 100%... there IS an extra side button

How far behind was the GS5A compared to the GS5 for lolipop? I think they got their updates pretty close together.

Not getting updates might be a bonus- historically AT&T have removed functionality (e.g. tethering) & added extra bloat with the carrier-pushed updates. As long as the phone works out of the box, I don't care about the updates that AT&T wants to give me.

What I do want though, is root.

AoN.

I was concerned about this as well, but still pulled the trigger on it and purchased regardless. I hope I don't regret it.

Because the battery in the S6 Active is substantially larger than the battery in both the S6 and S6 Edge, the phone has been getting a lot of attention. Perhaps, this will force ATT to not forget about the Active when it's time for software updates....

I've had the S5 Active for almost a year and it has received every single Android OS update that the regular S5 received but anywhere from a couple of days up to two weeks later.

I'm thinking the larger battery size of the S6 Active coupled with the lack of a removable battery on all S6's may drive it to be more popular relative to former Active variants compared to their non-Active siblings.

This could help drive solid support for this device.

Only if they can get it on other carriers and a European version. If they do this then I agree with your sentiments.

It will likely get updates later than the regular s6 and if it is like the s5 active it will be a few months behind but should get updated eventually.

That is good news :) And although I just got my ugly blue camo active ;) last night I have yet to find anything buggy that needs fixing so update or not I am happy.

From what I saw with the GS5 and GS5A updates were within a few weeks of one another. If you can live with that I would say this will be a great option for a while to come.
