fyi - VM raising rates?...:/

Grandfathering on contract? Sure. Prepaid? Don't bet on it.

Why? This happens a lot in prepaid across nearly all carriers.

I know people on VM that still use no longer existing plans, people on ATT that have old prepaid plans, T-Mobile also.

when I was on T-mobile and they cancelled the sidekick pre-paid plans, they let me keep it up until I got my optimus V not too long ago.

I think I already mentioned this earlier in the thread, but regarding grandfathering, it bears repeating.

I had the old Pay as you Go plan for years. The one that was .25 for the first ten minutes of each day, .10 a minute after that. That plan had been long gone and they didn't touch it. Then I got a new phone (the Flare), and they still didn't touch it. Only when I actually chose to change the plan did the old plan go away.

In the TOS it does say they will give you 30 days notice on any changes in rates or service. So far I haven't heard anything, so I'll treat that as a good sign. Knock on wood.

I am on the 40 dollar a month plan 5 dollars more a month is not going to break me,but like i said maybe this is a good thing less users less bottle necking,

This would be a 40% price hike for us on the $25 plan. I would switch carriers on principle alone if I had to pay the increased price. I think there is an unlimited everything plan out there for $35. Why wouldn't I go with that?

I hope so....however, if you ask about upcoming phones that we all know about, they don't acknowledge them...'we have no information about that' is their standard response

We'll just have to wait and see

Go right ahead, all the crying in the world would not stop it if it's true, but what other provider with decent coverage, offers an unlocked Android phones with the ability to tether and mod till your hearts content, even at 35 you will not find anything like that.i am pleased with the service enough to go with the 40 a month plan and ditch my house phone.

Yeah it will suck, but I'm not gonna jump ship even if they force the new rates on existing customers. Its still a good deal for someone with light minutes but heavy text/data usage. Plus one could hope that network congestion will get better if a lot of people drop the plan. ;)

I have no doubt that this is true. Makes sense that they would do it right before releasing the Triumph. Sucks, but still much cheaper than Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T.

Who's crying? I'm just saying that if they are going to raise my rates 40% I'l find another provider. Boost mobile's unlimited everything is $35 a month after 18 months and you can port over lots of Sprint phone's to their service from what I've read. $35/mo for 300 minutes is just not worth it.

Should have done it in the first place, boost does throttle from what i hear and their phone selection sucks, but if you can port over another phone that it is not an issue, but you have to wait nearly 2 years to get unlimited for 35,in 2 years they may not exist anymore,i am happy paying the 40 or 45 a month it is, a much better deal then the 25 but i guess an extra 20 a month can make or break some people.

Well, I use it for occasional info on the road. Don't talk a whole lot. But, if they are going to raise the rate I am going to raise my expectations. 250kbps was "OKAY" when it was $25 a month for data speed, but for $35 a month they best be getting their ass up around 1meg. I will gladly pay more for consistent reasonable fast internet. I don't need 4g but at least get close to what you advertise especially if you are going to charge more for it. The phone is great. The service is hit and miss. And without roaming it's a pretty hard sell.

I agree the data should be faster, but it seems to be good enough to run Google nav and Google music when in my car,i do not use it when home just turn on WIFI,i opted for the 40 plan and ditched my home phone, never had a dropped call or text issue, that alone is worth 40-45 dollars for me.

I tweeted vm and this is their reply regarding the $25 plan. Take it with a grain of salt

VMUcare @CJRuiz83 We do apologize for this misinformation, but we do not have any plans to change this particular plan. ^SB

They have every time before.
I went a year and a half on a dead plan.

Odds are it will be on new sales/acccounts, which will slowly move people over, and then at some point in the future they will force the rest over. This has been Virgins method for as long as I have been with them (7 years?).

It should be called the LG pessimist, one unofficial photo with no source that says rates are going up and people freak out, I will be more concerned if it was confirmed, or from a realiable source

Read back, it's a whole pdf document explaining changes to Virgin and Boost.

Everybody scream bloody murder! It's still the cheapest plan around and we'll all get grandfathered in. I don't see a problem unless they make everyone change.
