G-mail Functionality

This forum has helped me once with my notification question and I'm sure someone can answer this question. I use the basic G-mail application on my Samsung Fascinate (Android 2.1 rooted). Is there a setting to have the G-mail app automatically open the next e-mail when I close or delete the previous one? Seems like such a basic e-mail function but I don't see a setting for it. If the basic G-mail app can't, is there a better e-mail program with that functionality?

I don't believe there is. That is a Gmail thing. It doesn't do it in the Gmail web app either.

After searching "good Android e-mail apps" on Google, I downloaded and installed an app called "K-9 Mail". It has that functionality and a lot more. I'm trying it now. it was a little tricky figuring out how to change the default e-mail signature on K-9 mail but once again Google came through.

The Gmail app on the Evo has this option, under settings: auto advance.

Lets you set what you want it to do, when you delete an email, go to next new conversation, go to next older conversation.
