G3 shattered from 10cm drop??

These glass protectors look promising. I know they would help a lot against scratches and so, but could they really protect your screen from breaking if the G3 is dropped?

I am not trying to be an *** but there is at least one previous post in this very thread of someone's daughter dropping her ipohne with glass screen protector. The screen protector shattered but the phone screen itself was still in perfect condition. The glass screen protectors are made to protect your screen in case it is impacted by something. Tech Armor makes them for $13 delivered and they are GTG with lifetime warranty.

And someone also just posted a pic of his who did shatter with a screen protector... Just saying.

I was thinking along the lines that an imperfection in the glass or mounting where one or the other was slightly warped. The glass would be under constant warping pressure and when it hit it released the potential energy causing it to crack across the entire surface. At least thats sounds good in my head.

I did do glass screen protector in mine. It was only $9 but who really knows if will save my phone until it happens.

These phones are super sensitive, I dropped mine the other day from hip level face first with a case and screen protector and this is what happened, I know for a fact it can't be any gorilla glass on the G3, because my note 3 use to get dropped all the time same case and screen protector with no damage, so be very careful with your G3 because it has cheap glass on it

Nowhere does the author say he had a glass screen protector.
Just saying!

Dropped mine for the first time today outside on concrete I have the spigen ultra fit landed screen first and only the case was messed up but when I picked up the phone the entire thing fell off the back panel and landed screen first on the concrete luckily no noticeable marks cause it only fell like half an inch out of the case when I picked it up after the initial fall.

Not at all. i made a factual statement and quoted the person who specifically said they had a glass screen protector and it shattered while keeping the phone's screen in perfect condition. That is the premise of the glass screen protectors, they will protect the screen where a plastic screen protector won't.

Then you made an assumption based on someone else's less informative post and I pointed out the flaw in your statement. Just stop now before you embarrass yourself anymore.

Oh, well, excuse me. Please continue on not trying to be an ***...

You have 2 choices. Get a good case, or just don't drop it. Then again, there are people that would rather break their phone than use a case. <shakes head>

Service update:
I've been contacted and told that it wont be covered by the warranty. The repair company LG works with here in Norway, which is the only "official" one that will repair my phone without breaking the warranty gave me three options:

1. Repair my unit for 400$
2. Return my unit unrepaired for 60$
3. They keep my unit - free of charge

All of these three alternatives are beyond insanity from a consumer perspective. Alternative 1. is almost as expensive as a new phone, alternative 2. I have to repair it myself which breaks the warranty (plus they charge 60$ to look at my phone..), and alternative 3. which is a rather arrogant offer... (But surprisingly this option was completely free!! I'm glad they care enough for their costumers to offer parts of their services at the fair price of 0$ :))

I chose to have my unit repaired for 400$! I'm really delighted that the process didn't get too expensive, and after reading the reviews on the company who repairs my unit i see that they got the great user rating of 1.5/5 stars. Almost all reviews stated that they had only received their unit returned with a few additional damages cause by the repair company itself. I'm really looking forward to have my unit returned, and glad LG have partners that don't totally rip their costumers for money! :)

The screen itself is only 40$ on EBay and you could have repaired by yourself. :(

Yea, i should have considered that option from the start. But i didn't want to break the warranty, neither did i expect it to cost this much..
I have never repaired a phone myself before and guess it would have been a bit tricky to peal the digitizer from the display, but I will definitly do that next time I break anything...

While $400 to fix is insulting enough, I think charging you $60 to send you back your broken phone is the worst. Awful.

What? What?
Someone died?

I can ensure you that it felt like it when I broke my precious G3 :'(

Yea, its infuriating how they treat their costumers. I really want the warranty because I have never owned a smartphone that wasn't faulty yet.. Yet they insult me with charging 10x what the parts needed to fix it cost. Just great!

It's plain daylight robbery! It's criminal abuse of dependency.
It is one example of how capitalism can become a cancer.

Yep, the company repairing my unit right now has monopoly in Norway. They do whatever they want. Thinking about it i'm actually supporting them by trying to keep my warranty... I should have broken the warranty, repaired it myself and enjoyed a rooted phone. To late now..
