G3 Unlocking

Hi all, I searched and couldn't find a clear answer.

A friend from work is selling his G3 on US Cellular. I am wondering if it is possible to unlock this so it can be used on other carriers- specifically Straight Talk. I know it's CDMA but am unsure if it's one of those that has both of the radios. Thanks in advance!

I really doubt the contract is over so he wont be able to unlock it just yet.
You might want to check if the phone is contract free first.
If it is then you can always buy an unlock code on the internet pretty cheap.

Thanks, I asked him and he assured me that it is off of contract so that shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'm just wondering if the radios will work if I unlock it, then pop in a straight talk sim card.

If he is still with the carrier, ask him if he can call them and get the unlock code for it since it was his, they should give it to him free now that its off contract. I'm not familiar with straight talk but you can call and ask them.

Depending on the carrier you go with after unlocking it, yes.
