G4 KnockOn feature not working

Tried knock code and it does work great, but it is apparently incompatible with Android Pay. Is there any workaround to keep both knock code and Android Pay.

Not that I know of, it requires you to have a pin or pattern.

For a few months, the knock on feature was working sporadically. Now, it does not work at all. I hesitate to attempt a factory reset to see if it restores the function only because of the annoyance of setting up my phone all over again. Does anyone know whether or not a reset will help?

If anyone's still following this thread, I went ahead and did a factory reset on the G4 and it did not restore the knock on function.

you cannot use the feature of "double tap wake up" when you sets up your lock screen guard to "knock code". i had experienced this issue (IMO its a bug, most probably) on my LG G3 (and i think it would be the same with your LG G4). but when i reverted back my lock screen guard to swipe, pattern etc the "double tap wake up" feature had been back and its working fine!

i don't know how and why, but its the "knock code" options is the culprit that "disabling" the "double tap wake up" feature. and its got nothing to do with applying protective glass screen guard as i did that to my LG G3 too.

This!
I changed from the knock code to a PIN entry, and the knock on that's being inoperative for *months*, and even had me doing a factory reset (which I still haven't recovered from, due to lost contacts), is now working-
Thanks for the bugs, LG.
Would have saved me so much time if they would just put it in the manual that the two knockers are not compatible with one another..
When I originally got the phone it used to work together, but then it stopped; whether due to updates or the phone hardware, I don't know-
It's still not as responsive as it used to be, taking an inconsistent number of seconds before waking up, but at least it does work now, if I persevere. I need it to work when I have it in a car holder where the only way to wake it up otherwise is to remove it, since it has no side buttons.
I'm still using the rear button normally because it doesn't lag the way the knock on scheme does.

Well, removing the knock code gives it the chance of the knock on working, but it's still too unreliable, sometimes working but more often requiring many tries over and over before it finally wakes up. I've decided to use a small neodymium magnet attached to the end of a stylus to wake it from its slumber instead, passing it briefly over the quick circle sensor on the center of the left edge of the screen.
That immediately wakes it up each and every time. That'll have to be my workaround for the unreliable knock on implementation, until LG figures out how to correct it.

I'll admit my trouble and my new glass protector did arrive at about the same time but, if my protector is the issue why am I able to double tap to put my phone to sleep?

After 15 months, is your device still working with the KnockOn? Thinking about replacing mine to fix it.

Mine was sent in for the boot loop issue and the knock on feature didn't work properly before or after the repair, I don't know if it's a firmware issue or not. Maybe they disabled it because it caused battery drain when constantly monitoring when off or something. Kind of a neat feature, but it doesn't work for me.

I wouldn't bother trying to get it working. I just use the back button and changed my phone mount so that it's accessible when mounted, as a workaround.

Thanks LonerangerVII! Changing back to swipe helped on my LG G4. It doesn't work perfectly, sometimes takes a few tries but it's better. Seems weird since the double tap to shut down has always worked fine. I agree that a screen protector is not the cause as I've always had one on, and the problem just started recently. Resetting to factory didn't help either. This will be my last LG, they have too many bugs and known issues but sell the phones anyway.
