In my debloating frenzy, I apparently disabled or probably blocked whatever it is that displays the Software Update option in About Phone. Anyone know what I should reactivate (if I can) to get that back (I'm on Verizon, obviously)?

I disabled a bunch of stuff and had no problems getting the update.

Maybe try to restart the phone?

The phone has been restarted many times since I noticed it was gone. This is just the first time it matters.

Did you also debloat with that app? Many more things available to block than we can disable.

I debloated a bunch of stuff too. I just went into my system updates and checked for an update. I'm downloading now. Your system update option is gone?


Btw It's not in the about phone it's right below it.

Thanks for helping clarify what else Verizon sneaked into the update. I figured 160MB was a bit too big for only updating 3 things.

Downloading now. I didn't get a notification to download but when I checked for system updates, it came up.

Did you also debloat with that app? Many more things available to block than we can disable.

No I just debloated in the application manager. I didn't use the debloat tool. You might need to undo those changes if you debloated some apps that the system doesn't normally allow you to debloat through the application manager

Mine is actually below about phone: system updates. Seems smoother as far as touch and keyboard- need more time to be sure

Just installed mine... NOTICEABLE difference in knock-on success and (maybe?) all around snappier feel to things.

Yep, gone. About Phone is the last entry in Settings.

Yep, gone. About Phone is the last entry in Settings.

I have the international model but I go to... Settings > About Phone > Update Center and I can check for updates in there. Anything similar on your version?

I know. That's why I asked if anyone knew which apk controlled the updates.

It probably isn't just one app... The system checks to make sure everything is in check before letting you update.

Update Center is the LG apps updater? Verizon removed that if so. System Upodates is all we have, right below About Phone.

I unbloated the thing by just unblocking *everything*, and am downloading the update right now.

Well, yes and no. I have received full system OS updates with plenty of stuff disabled, and it remains disabled on the other side of the update. I agree that it was probably a combo of a couple of apks not being active, though.

Glad it works. It was just s guess that something disabled was causing a problem.

Hopefully it's not a placebo but the phone definitely seems snappier. Some of the hesitation is gone. Touchscreen is too early too tell but ive gotten used to it too so not sure if I could truly tell a difference.
