G5 owners - happy or not?

I've had mine since 4/1 and I love it! I miss having the volume buttons on the back after coming from the G3, but that's OK.

IPhone 6s plus and galaxy s7 edge owner. I personally thing the g5 looks gorgeous and if I didn't just get the s7 I'd try the g5 out. But soon enough once I get out of my honeymoon phase with the s7 edge lol I'll be grabbing the -g5 to use along side my s7 and iPhone.

Glad to see most of you happy with the phone. Enjoy guys!

So glad to read some positive opinions about the phone. I dont care about plastic outside or not. The wide angle camera makes the phone so attractive. Only thing I am worried about is build quality(will the modular part hold for many years) and battery life. Also as someone who only used amoled screens it will probably very difficult to adjust to an LCD screen. Any opinions?

I just had my first hands on at the AT&T store and I really dig the device. I think the display looks great and the design is good. I couldn't care less about the lack of an app drawer. The UI looks SO MUCH improved over the G4, it's super snappy and fluid. Well done LG. The AT&T unit did show some QC issues though, especially by the module line. I don't know how that thing is going to look over time tbh. But overall first impressions were good.

A little disappointed but probably not enough to return it.

The ir blaster doesn't work with led lighting. Disappointing coming from an htc m8 which did work fine with led remote lights.

Also over 5ghz WiFi I am only getting 20-30mbps. My connection speed is 150mbps and my htc would get that speed no problem. I'm hoping it is just a bad coincidence that I just got the phone and my ISP is having issues. The auto brightness also reduces itself to 0 in a slightly dim room. That is something the first android phones did but not any I have used in the last 4 years aside from this one. I had to turn auto brightness off (reminds me of the first Droid phone...)

Coming from my m8 (which died and needed a quick replacement) I am a bit ambivalent about this phone at the moment.

I've had very good luck with Lux auto brightness on a g2 and a g4. You can train it to display the brightness you want at a particular ambient light. Liked the free version, so I bought the paid version to reward the dev.

I've hit peaks of 80-90 and average 50 at the house so I don't think it's indicitive of the G5 in general

I don't think it would be difficult. They're different beasts to be sure but the LCD on the G5 is super crisp and color accurate. It's a lot like looking at a nice LCD TV. The AMOLED screens tend to give the overall image an almost "painted on" look. It's very color rich (some would say over-saturated) and easy on the eyes. There are pluses and minuses to each type of technology and some folks have clear favorites. While there might be an adjustment period, and you're certain to miss certain characteristics of AMOLED, you might find that the LCD does something you like better as well.

You guys need to check your wifi router and make sure it has the updated networks, I'm getting blazing fast speeds

I love my LG G5. I threw an $8 clear case on it and I think it looks beautiful. I have very minimal backlight bleed. The camera is awesome. It's buttery smooth. No lag. The screen looks great. The battery life is more than sufficient but even charging is super fast with QC 3.0. I love the button on the back. I also love the customization options LG offers. Adding that one extra virtual button on the left pushes all the regular navigation button to the right making this one of the most ergonomic large phones I've ever used. I'm really surprised with all the negativity surrounding this phone. This is by far the best phone I have ever used.

If I could change anything, I wish you could skin the UI or LG at least offered to have a dark theme. I'm not feeling this white and mint thing they got going on. But overall I am so glad I chose the G5 over all the other phones.

I also don't understand why some people are saying they won't buy it because of the lack of an app drawer. That's one of the easiest things to fix on a phone. It's the exact opposite of a deal breaker.

It was just my isp. I'm getting 80mbps in the evening. Still sad about the ir blaster not working for my led remote lights but otherwise it seems like a solid overall phone.

I feel the same way with amoled screens. I had the first galaxy with amoled (think it was the s II but can't recall) and remember thinking things looked way over saturated. That phone in general put me off samsung phones and android for a while as well.

I'm three days into owning a G5. So far I'm very please with performance and overall look and feel. So far no regrets.

Very happy. I buy too many phones and the G5 is right up there.

I am wrapping up my 4th day and absolutely love how fast this phone is. There are no fit/finish issues whatsoever. Screen is excellent and very good outdoors and for me, this is the perfect screen size. As of now 12 hours 41 minutes on battery and at 40% with 3 hrs 50 min OST. Speaker is plenty loud and sounds as good as any bottom firing speaker I've heard.
Cameras are excellent and the wide angle camera was so nice to have last night at an awards dinner at my daughters school. We ended up on the second row from the stage and as groups of students stood side by side to get their awards I easily snapped excellent quality pictures of 20 students standing shoulder to shoulder. My family members all using
IPhone 6's were amazed with my wide angle shots, regular shots and the zoomed shots. The G5 pictures truly killed the IPhones and it was so cool to be able to use and enjoy what I thought would be more of a gimmick with the wide angle lens.

Downsides: Not as easy to grip as G4 with leather back and 5X, but much better than 6P and N6. The fingerprint scanner does not seem to be as accurate as the 5X. I can place my finger(s) at any angle on the 5X scanner and get an instant read 99% of the time whereas the G5 is probably 70%. If I place my finger flat every time it actually seems a little quicker than the 5X, but its hard to do that every time. Am I nit picking? Probably, but both are LG phones and I would expect the G5 scanner to be at least as good as the 5X. That's it for complaints.

I am pretty picky about my phones and was surprised today to find I had not realized there was a shipping screen protector still on the screen. I don't think I would have ever noticed it had I not felt a tiny ridge where it was cut around one of the top sensors. There was one on the front of the chin as well and like the one on the screen I kept second guessing myself about it actually being there. The only thing I noticed with the screen was how easily it got fingerprints. The phone came wrapped in a loose plastic sleeve so I never thought to look. I'd love to know if anyone else missed this. I am glad its off now because it doesn't fingerprint nearly as bad.

This is one badass phone!

I'm not sure how you missed the screen protector because I could swear mine had printing on it. I did missed the protectors on the chin originally and thought I had scratched the paint but it was the protector on the front.... By the way I originally left the chin protectors on during the first coupler of weeks

My 3 teenage kids didn't see it nor did my business partner as they played with it and my son loves to pick apart Android phones so he would have been all over this. I've never seen a more flawlessly installed temporary screen protector.

I didn't have printing on it?
