Galaxy Gear will not charge. :(

I was not charging because of the cord. I plug my cord for my s4 into the cradle and it started charging my cradle was good cord bad.

I just got my Galaxy Gear today. As soon as I unboxed it (without turning it on), I went ahead and put to charge. Something came up on and off very quickly. Since then it wouldn’t charge or turn on again….any advice !!!!

Hi Guys,

Try this - it seems that it's just a glitch of some sort (don't quote me on that) but when the gear goes completely flat, sometimes when charging it won't show the charge animation (sometimes it flashes an empty battery for a micro-second, most times it won't do anything). Don't be alarmed, just leave it on the charger for a couple minutes, then take it out and turn it on. Your gear will come back on again (from the 2 minutes of charge, even though nothing was showing). Now proceed to charging it again like normal and it should be fine.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Rob

Mine has done exactly the same thing I haven't used it for a few weeks and now it won't charge just flashes for a millisecond .

Help

Hello, I had the same problem nd what I did was to leave on top of the radiator for 5 min then I connect it to my laptop and it worked.
You might also be able to do it by connecting its usb cable to the laptop.
I hope it helps. Best of luck

Hi guys I think the radiator thing is abit of a miff :p got my gear out the cupboard the other day and it wouldnt charge or turn on when attempted to charge at a socket?? This is a few weeks old. Take the usb off your 3pin plug charger if u have 1 (samsung s4 charger) and plug the gear into a laptop or a desktop and it will start charging slowly. No idea why this works but it does. I think once it goes completely flat it wont charge at a socket outlet. You will all notice that phones and devices take alot longer to charge on laptops and desktops. I think this may have something to do with it. Charge it to 5% on your laptop or desktop and disconnect it and it will start working in your house sockets (charge alot faster). Happy days

Thanks! worked for me..

i have a rooted gear with Nova launcher.. my battery was about to run out when i plugged it in and noticed there was no beep, the screen did not pop on etc the way it normally does when connecting it to the charger.. so a bit panicky i tried a different cable and nothing..

i can not remember if there is a battery percentage available somewhere on the regular TouchWiz launcher.. but i plugged it in anyway as you suggested, then went to the settings on the Nova launcher to check battery percentage, and it had went up a bit in just a couple of minutes. so it was still actually charging, even though in the settings it said it was discharging..

and now i went to check again, i disconnected it and plugged it in again and this time there was both the beep and the screen turning on!

it was a quick and simple solution, thanks!

All I did was charge it for a few minutes, take it out of the charger and hold the power button for a few seconds and it came on (although there was one time I had to do it a couple of times before it came on). Once I held it for about 10 seconds (which is like a soft reset). It happens when I leave it flat for a couple days or more. I've done it about 4 times now - works every time

Re: UPDATE Re: Galaxy Gear will not charge. :(

I am having the same problem... The unit is a brand new unit, and I cant even take it back to the supplier because I bought it from Singapore and I am now back in South Africa. When I plug in the charger a battery icon flashes on the screen and then just goes off again and nothing happens. Do you have any suggestions as to what to do? Please help

I had a problem charging. Looked at the charging connectors on the back of the watch and they were filled with sweat gunk. I used a cotton swab and cleaned the metal connectors thoroughly and it worked. Just a bad connection. Not sure of a solution for those with a brand new, out the box, device...

***Important*** 50% might be the glitch referred to previously, but the other 50% is a loose connection in the actual charger. There is a very week connection point inside the clam shell charger. I found putting force on the cable in different directions showed a charge icon. I ended rigging a rubber band and wire to the cable to pull it in the direction that made it charge. I have no idea how many of you are experiencing a glitch verses poor build quality like me, but I wanted to share.

Mine did this too... Check the cord you are using to charge with. I found most cord are garbage and can't charge the device. I have found that a thicker heavier gauge cord works best... Not sure if it will work for yous guys but it worked for me.

Exactly the same problem with a new gear I purchased yesterday.

I plugged it into the computer via USB for about an hour. This eventually made it come to life with 1% battery. Then switched it over the the mains charger and it eventually came back to life.

I know that works for some some times but for some reason on a few that I have had come into my shop all I have done is removed the 4 screws to pop the top off and do a short tear down which is super simple...and put back together and that whole piping up for 1 sec and going off stops and it starts charging. I think once you pop the top and the main board is separated from the internal battery connection it let's the board kind of do a hard reset in a sense and pop it back together an it's done. I have left mine in charged for weeks and months at a time and so has the people that has brought their watch in. It's a 5 min fix! It saves time and the whole trying to switch wires etc. B.c sometimes that just won't work!

I hope this helps people and if you need help tearing it down which again is super simple and easy do a search for tear down of galaxy gear....it works...I promise...unless your watch is shot b.c of water etc.

I just had this problem and non of these helped. Was starting to think I damaged it some how till I tried this.
I found something thin that could hold my power button down while it was in the cradle attached to my computer via usb. For some reason wall chargers didn't work for me during this. My computer also did not recognize my gear, it was only drawing power.
Then finally the Samsung logo appeared but it showed "rebooting..." and kept flashing.. so I let it.
Then after a few minutes it finally booted completely but said something about the battery being to low to connect to my phone. The battery died again but the second time it came back on it had enough battery to stay on. Be sure to try different mini usb cables if it doesn't work. An old Samsung mini usb (with the black shiny plastic housing on the connectors) did not work but the very long one from my nvidia shield did.
