I read somewhere that the Razr has been a bust so far sales-wise. Is that actually the case? If so, it could effect the release date for the Nexus.
Funny you say that. I went to Verizon last week when they released the Razr and I'm not in a big city but the population is over 30K and they sold their first one when I was there 4 hours after they opened. The guy who bought the phone was a brother of a high school friend that I wanted to talk him out of it and wait for the Nexus but the mgr is a good friend and I couldn't do that to him.
Im standing by my guess of friday.
Im thinking price will be 299.00 with 2 year contract,
With my upgrade already past due will get an addtional 50 dollars off of that

Looks like it's going to be a real "Black Friday" for RAZR and Rezound sales if the Nexus is released by then.
Personally, I think Google misses a big opportunity to educate the population on this, and correspondingly misses a big revenue source. But, that's the way it is.
I don't think the Nexus has any/much effect on sales of the Razr/Rezound. The people who want the Nexus wouldn't buy those phones, and that is a very small % of phone buyers. I know tons of people who don't know jack about phones and just buy whatever the salespeople recommend. They simply don't understand and/or care about all the techie stuff, and they just want a phone. I also know people that are somewhat techie but prefer one or other of the skins (Sense especially). So, the market for the Nexus phones is pretty niche, and I think Google & Verizon both know that, hence the lack of marketing for it. They know that the people who are going to buy the Nexus will do so regardless of any marketing, so why spend the money on it.

I don't think VZW really wants people to buy the Nexus. No VZW bloat = less revenue.
on the contrary, I think Verizon knows how big the "Nexus" brand is among a significant percentage of android users in the market, and not only will it bring in sales from the phone alone, but that window of exclusivity (albeit short) with the Galaxy Nexus can bring in several other customers who are on other carriers who would want the version of the Galaxy Nexus which would have access to "the most reliable [and available] 4G LTE network".

Something I just realized. If the rumors of the 17th are true, the Nexus will become available the same day they flip the switch on 4G in my city. Oh man.... It would be like a double rainbow all the way across the sky. Come on 17th!
