Galaxy Nexus Shipped To Verizon

Im standing by my guess of friday .
Im thinking price will be 299.00 with 2 year contract,
With my upgrade already past due will get an addtional 50 dollars off of that

I read somewhere that the Razr has been a bust so far sales-wise. Is that actually the case? If so, it could effect the release date for the Nexus.

Funny you say that. I went to Verizon last week when they released the Razr and I'm not in a big city but the population is over 30K and they sold their first one when I was there 4 hours after they opened. The guy who bought the phone was a brother of a high school friend that I wanted to talk him out of it and wait for the Nexus but the mgr is a good friend and I couldn't do that to him.

They really missed a huge opportunity to focus their ad campaign on people who loved the original Razr. Ah well. I wouldn't have bought it anyway :D

i agree. i think we'll get an official announcement tomorrow (wednesday) from Verizon, with availability of the phone being this Friday (both in-store and online).

just a gut feeling....in combination with the FCC approval and the leaked photo of the shipment of the gazillion galaxy nexus phones...

but i am kinda weary about the rumors of the release being delayed in the UK

Looks like it's going to be a real "Black Friday" for RAZR and Rezound sales if the Nexus is released by then.

I find it aggravating myself to have to sit and speculate and constantly read rumors regarding the release date of the Nexus. I can honestly say that if a December 1st release was announced and set in stone I would sit back and patiently wait.

Just tell us the date, I don't care how long I have to wait as long as it's reasonable. Verizon needs to keep positive relations with their other cellphone providers, we can understand this. But first keep the relationship with your customers.

I don't think the Nexus has any/much effect on sales of the Razr/Rezound. The people who want the Nexus wouldn't buy those phones, and that is a very small % of phone buyers. I know tons of people who don't know jack about phones and just buy whatever the salespeople recommend. They simply don't understand and/or care about all the techie stuff, and they just want a phone. I also know people that are somewhat techie but prefer one or other of the skins (Sense especially). So, the market for the Nexus phones is pretty niche, and I think Google & Verizon both know that, hence the lack of marketing for it. They know that the people who are going to buy the Nexus will do so regardless of any marketing, so why spend the money on it.

Personally, I think Google misses a big opportunity to educate the population on this, and correspondingly misses a big revenue source. But, that's the way it is.

I bought the Razr; but I have to try the GN. Bought it last Fri. So since I have two lines eligible for an upgrade I will be just fine. I was planning on returning my Razr tomorrow.

Couldn't agree more.

Maybe it is just a dev phone to them, like some have said. If that is the case, it seems like they would just release it and, not worry about how it affects the sales of the Razr & Resound because, not many people know about it.

It doesn't help when Verizon is interested in only selling the Droid Razr. Out of the calls I've made today, more than half of the sales reps mentioned the Razr right after they said the Galaxy Nexus wasn't available. To which I responded (no offense to those of you who have/like the Razr) "It's not even in the same class as the Nexus. No thanks", They just laugh as if they know what they're talking about and the conversation ends.

I don't think VZW really wants people to buy the Nexus. No VZW bloat = less revenue.

on the contrary, I think Verizon knows how big the "Nexus" brand is among a significant percentage of android users in the market, and not only will it bring in sales from the phone alone, but that window of exclusivity (albeit short) with the Galaxy Nexus can bring in several other customers who are on other carriers who would want the version of the Galaxy Nexus which would have access to "the most reliable [and available] 4G LTE network".

good point, and your point is further supported by VZW's double data promo

I think it would make sense for Verizon to hold off on selling the gnex so it is able squeeze what it can from the RAZR and Rezound marketing blitz. If I had to guess, this is why we've heard little to nothing from them about a gnex release date.

Something I just realized. If the rumors of the 17th are true, the Nexus will become available the same day they flip the switch on 4G in my city. Oh man.... It would be like a double rainbow all the way across the sky. Come on 17th!

LOL.

Yup, you got it. VZW is setting up a whole supply chain, allocating storage space, training store employees, CSR's, etc, setting up for warranty claims and replacements, and the litany of other processes I'm overlooking right now just to sell a phone they hope no one buys because those people won't be able use their bloatware??

I guess the 2 year contracts with mandatory data plans that go along with those GN sales don't mean anything? Have you paid attention to the RAZR reviews? A lot of the "bloatware" can now be disabled or even removed. I think the revenue generated from bloatware is given way too much credence around here.

I don't think we will see pre-orders for this phone. Also, close to zero in marketing.

I do think we will see a launch date soon...possibly tomorrow like some of said. That's it though.

A release date. It launches. We buy it. Yay. That's it.

So intense! What does it mean?
