Galaxy Nexus Shipped To Verizon

I don't think we will see pre-orders for this phone. Also, close to zero in marketing.

I do think we will see a launch date soon...possibly tomorrow like some of said. That's it though.

A release date. It launches. We buy it. Yay. That's it.

Yeah, I think it will just show up online like the Rezound did.

Would Verzion really care which phone sells? As long as they are selling phones, adding subscribers and getting data fees it shouldn't matter which device is being sold.

The biggest problem is the manufactures releasing devices so close to each other. Moto hypes up the Bionic big time only to release the RAZR 2 months later. They could have scrapped the Bionic and all those customers would have gone to the RAZR. Moto will release the RAZR 2/HD (whatever they call it) in early 2012 and wonder again why sales are week. They are diluting the system, too much supply.

Something I just realized. If the rumors of the 17th are true, the Nexus will become available the same day they flip the switch on 4G in my city. Oh man.... It would be like a double rainbow all the way across the sky. Come on 17th!

I know right same here! Finally getting 4G in East Providence thankfully! The closest 4G to Providence was Boston. I highly doubt the Nexus will come out on the 17th but that would be so EPIC for Southern New England. I know lots of people around here who want the phone (well not lots but a decent amount). Can't wait to grab this device from the Seekonk,MA store! I am thinking either the week of Thanksgiving or the week of December 1st. December 1st is a lot more realistic if you guys really sit back and think about it though.

Because they have a lot more time and money invested into the DROID brand. It's a known fact that Verizon cares for its DROID branded phones more than others. Sad but true, considering 90% of them are Motorola which equals crap (besides the OG DROID).

It doesn't help when Verizon is interested in only selling the Droid Razr. Out of the calls I've made today, more than half of the sales reps mentioned the Razr right after they said the Galaxy Nexus wasn't available. To which I responded (no offense to those of you who have/like the Razr) "It's not even in the same class as the Nexus. No thanks", They just laugh as if they know what they're talking about and the conversation ends.

Yep, I had the same experience in the mall the other day. The Rep said, "the Nexus won't hold a candle to the RAZR". I kindly advised him to do some homework on the Nexus :-)

Only reason I can think they would sit on them was to increase their overall sales in both the Razr and Rezound figuring they will sell a ton of Nexus regardless.
Hasn't the return police been extended to Jan 9th. If that is the case, what would be the pointing of sitting on the Nexus.

But in the end a sale is a sale. Unless they have higher profit margins from the DROID line it shouldn't matter.

I had a rep at a VZW store yesterday tell me that the RAZR hardware is "by far" better than the gnex. It is impressive, and stronger in a lot of areas, at least on the surface (camera (by MP), gorilla glass, kevlar, etc.). If you just compare the glossies you see why they are saying this.

The only problem I see with this is that Verizon and other carriers sell almost all of their phones on contract at subsidized prices, for which they make little or no profit on the sale alone. And that's just as true of Droids as any other phone. I'm sure the Droid branding means something to Verizon, but I'll bet that the bloatware add-on services mean a lot more to their bottom line. They may also have reached more favorable contracts with Moto and HTC by agreeing to give the RAZR and Rezound a little bit of a head start on the GN.

The GN is sort of a double-edge sword for Verizon. They'll lose a certain amount of add-on service business by selling it at all, but it's also the only phone offering besides the iPhone that is likely to attract new customers (such as me) away from the other carriers. People will come to VZW specifically for the GN, which I doubt you can say of the RAZR or Rezound.

I read somewhere that the Razr has been a bust so far sales-wise. Is that actually the case? If so, it could effect the release date for the Nexus.

The only phone that I have ever really heard of as flying off the shelves like hot cakes are the iPhones. I'm not an iPhone fan boy so please don't start attacking me LOL. But this is true, Apple doesn't even have to market the damn thing the media does it for them!

As far as the RAZR selling slow, I think it all comes down to the high price tag and the data plans for new customers. I know a lot of people on the forum like to think of everybody being like us, but the people that use forums, go crazy waiting on a phone to come out, really know what the phone has to offer are extremely small compared to the number of people out there just buying phones. In most cases people are buying new phones when their contract is up or their old phone is no longer working, that person walking into the store is prob more likely to take a free phone over a $300 phone. And for sure most people will not walk into a store and buy a $650 phone out of contract. So that leaves the new customers who are the only ones getting a real discount (under $300) and they have to deal with the new data plans.

In other words it will be no surprise that any $300 phone does not fly out the doors, even the GN. Hell I can't believe that this close to Christmas I am about to go buy the GN for $270 (with my $30 discount), I have never spent that much on a phone before, of course it is more then a phone and I plan on using the hell out of it, but still a lot of money for myself to be spending.

That would make my week if it actually did come out. Also, as for Google not marketing these devices as much, you have to think about it. They might not want to upset their partners too much. I mean that might not be the actual reason, but it's a possibility. I'm happy about the new music service. Makes me wish that it was available today. Tired of paying Apple for my music. I'd rather have something that's built into Android. Probably be a little more seamless.

I don't mind Itunes but, am really excited about Google music. It's nice to have an alternative, especially since I've uploaded all my music to Music Beta. I hope it works seamlessly with the current music beta and, maybe it won't be beta anymore after tomorrow.

Itunes isn't that bad, I love how it organizes my folders and stuff for me. It would just be nice to be able to buy stuff and it be available immediately sort of like how Amazon does.

Who cares if google upsets their partners for marketing this phone. Where are those carriers gonna run to? It's not like they can license iOS. They are stuck with Android because its FREE FREE FREEEEEEEEEEE.

Google should be promoting their standard first and all those loser phones second.

on the contrary, I think Verizon knows how big the "Nexus" brand is among a significant percentage of android users in the market, and not only will it bring in sales from the phone alone, but that window of exclusivity (albeit short) with the Galaxy Nexus can bring in several other customers who are on other carriers who would want the version of the Galaxy Nexus which would have access to "the most reliable [and available] 4G LTE network".

I beg to differ on how big the Nexus brand is among a significant percentage of Android users. I would say that percentage is incredibly small. A significant percentage of android users have absolutely no clue about tech, nor do they care.
