Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) Battery life sucks, as does charging

I can only get about 3-5 hours on a full charged battery doing anything from light browsing to watching youtube videos. Not to mention it takes forever to charge. I plugged it in last night and had it charging for 8 hours and it hadn't even gotten past 90 percent. WTF? 600 dollars and the battery and charging are trash. SMH Samsung.
i have a same problem here. i use samsung galaxy tab 10.1 2014 to charging need about 6-8 hours.
if i use o wach youtube or play game. it coulnt last 6 hours. i got ipad 4th gen also. the batere life is amazing.. please samsung. make an update to repair this things.

No update can repair hardware issue. Fast discharge or taking long time to get full charge or battery's capacity reading fluctuation...etc... all come from a loose or cracked battery connector where your battery connected to main board. Ask a repair shop or someone who knows how to solder to re solder this connector, the fix doesn't take more than 5 minutes. It looks similar to this one:

Just want to share my experience with Note 10.1. Have had it about a year and a half and have never been happy with battery drain, but was too lazy to research it. I'm using the Apex launcher which I like but even with Touchwiz it drained fast with minimal use. Mostly it would drain when not in use. So, I did some looking and found the biggest drain is Nook app which came preloaded, is always calling home and can't be uninstalled without root. So now last thing I do before turning Note off is force stop the damn nook, turn off WiFi and sync. After 2 days of light use in the morning (reading news, Facebook, some email) I'm still at 75%. Don't know if I'll bother with root now. Much happier now. Also, I usually charge round 25% takes about 4.5 hours.

I think mine is the worst of the lot!
My battery on my galaxy note 10.1 takes 15 hours to charge, and after browsing the internet, looking at my own photos and videos, and using the inbuilt photo editor, takes only 2 hours to run out. The battery continues to decrease even when it is plugged in charging. So annoyed and greatly disappionted

Try using a different charging cable.

Recommend Battey Doctor v3.23 app. This app works great for maximizing battery life. I have been using it for about a year on my SIII phone and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014).
I am very happy with the battery life -typically 14 to 18 hours. It also helps remind me when to fully charge. It will ramp down the fast charge to trickle when the battery reaches 90% or even maintains at 100% when plugged into the charger. The optimize feature allows you to shutdown background apps that are draining fast.

Recommended. Find it on Google Play

You should never ever shut down background apps and/or services using a task killer! Doing that will only shorten the "lifespan" of your device, and could have a negative effect on your CPU and battery. If shutting down background tasks helped at all it was because you have a bad app installed and since you shut down all your apps, the bad one(s) was/were also shut down. A good way to detect bad apps is by using the app watchdog lite because it specifically looks for bad apps so you can get rid of them.

i dont have a charger for this tablet does anybody knows which charger can work with this one as fast or faster than it's original charger?

The tablet is not set up to use a fast charger. You have to use the standard 2.1 charger

Sent from my Samsung Note 10.1 2014

Believe any 2.1amp (2100ma) or better charge will work does not have to be Samsung charger just correct voltage (which most USB chargers are) and amperage... Also good quality heavy duty cable with micro USB connector on tablet end...

When I use Battery Doctor, it reports that the battery capacity of my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) is 2100 mAh instead of the 8,220 mAh that should be there. What everyone else's say? What are the reasons the info reported is wrong? In general, my battery life is acting weird. It'll pause charging at 92% or so, and then if I go to unplug it it will jump to 100%. Also, it'll hit 1% and turn itself off, but when I turn it back on it goes back to 15%. Any hints would be appreciated.

Bases on your description, the battery connector doesn't hold a solid connection due to cracks of solder joints. This is a common problem of Samsung tablets but it's an easy fix. Bring it to a repair shop and ask someone to resolder the battery connector

Battery capacity fluctuation is an obvious symptoms of loose connection, like your loose power outlet, the light will be on and off due to lost connection.
Wrong reading from Battery Doctor due to the software, it's not the problem of your battery. Many battery apps do not read the battery capacity correctly, so don't worry about it.

After owning mine for a little over 2 years, I finally used my extended warranty and replaced the battery and charge port. They were doing what you said yours are doing, and the hardware was at fault. That was, mind you, after 2 years of solid everyday heavy use.

Thanks so so much for the input. I am just now jumping into the tablet world and despite it bring older, the Note 10.1 2014 seemed to fit my needs the best, so I bought a refurbished one. It also has issues staying connected to my computer, which sometimes acts as if the tablet is being plugged in and unplugged rapidly. It looks as if the charging port may also be bad as you mentioned. Thankfully it is still within the return period.

Would you recommend I roll the dice with another one? Or is there another comparable tablet out there? I really enjoy the tablet, except for these issues. Also, where did you get your extended warranty? Thanks so much.

Hi everybody, I had the very slow charge issue, and on top of that it didnt got recognized by the pc, but I fix it by opening the tablet (there´s a youtube guide on how to open it), anyway I uninstall the charger pin completely and then I used some pliers to squeeze the microusb conector, turns out i was to lose due to normal usage, now the microusb fits really tight and charges normal and it connects to pc, hope this works for you....
