Galaxy Note 3 and Asurion... :(

I've dealt with Asurion on two different occasions over the years, with two different phones, and they were great! Received both phones the next day and their customer service was unmatched.
I think it's great they took the time reply on this forum.

What is assurion's policy on how they have to actually replace a device. After all it is insurance and they have to deliver on it. They can go to Verizon if necessary and pay for one.

I wouldn't be surprised if their policy is to get by as cheaply (for them) as possible. They're in business to make money not because they want to help folks. What affects their pocketbook is going to be a higher priority than providing the customer with the service the customer expects. I apologize for putting it so bluntly but that's likely closer to the truth than not.

They'll replace with a new or refurbished phone. Both of mine were refurbished and they came to me exactly how a new phone would, and in perfect condition. Not a scratch on them.

I think they were counting the $$$ when this hit the fan! Nobody should have to wait that long! I have been paying for Asurion for about 5 years & I may as well just go with a rider on my company insurance, pay less & get the replacement when I want it or need it!! That's just plain stupid .... I don't care what Asurion says! It's stupid! They should just tell him to go to his nearest carrier office & get it!

Cheers, Jon

I pay $5 a month through Verizon and it's a $100 deductible. I had to make a claim on my Note 2 three months after I got it for a cracked screen and I got a brand new phone in the box the very next day!! Wasn't even a refurb which is what I was expecting.

I'm surprised that we're all paying different prices. But I played around on Asurion's site, and see that we are all paying different deductibles. Very interesting. Yeah, I paid $200. The biggest difference is with Sprint you can do three claims a year, where the other carrier's max out at 2. I've been with Sprint since 98/99. I always add insurance..... and this is my first claim. As it is now Saturday, I won't be receiving a phone until Tuesday the earliest.

It would have been cheaper to use one of my upgrades and buy another phone for $249 (Best Buy price match) and not pay a monthly fee.

Live and learn.

I have little doubt or am I surprised that Assurion is dragging their feet on replacing a product they insured but they do have a liability and legal responsibility to replace it asap. They are not likely to get RF units anytime soon and are holding out until they do so they don't have to pay for new units. Crappy business practice from a typical insurance company. Take your money, screw you on the service.

I know I am looking elsewhere .... not good business .... A whole lot of F people have paid for this for a very long time & I think that may change unless they change! I pay $8 a month for Assurion through Verizon & there is absolutely nothing about a deductible in there! WTF is that about .... they can change at will?? If Assurion was a competent company they would respond here with some truth about who gets what for coverage & why somebody can't just go get anew one if refurbs are not available!

Cheers, Jon

Look a little harder, they DO post the deductible for your device when you purchase the insurance.

How come you can't see that deductible in your plan? I have never had to sign up, because I just keep it going & have never seen a deductible :(

I know when we ordered our phones, both the N3, and the new iPhone 5S, they came with a small brochure discussing the plan and the deductable that was tied to each tier, and class of phone. It was specific to Verizon. I have always received one of these, even when getting a phone through them for insurance if I remember correctly. When you order the phone online and make the selection you can view the details, which includes deductable.

I think this is on you for not seeing.

At this time, I thinks it's the amount of wait time to get your phone replaced that is the real problem with Asurion! I do guess I will have to read these brochures from now on :)
