Galaxy Note 3 - Case & Covers Thread

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Is yours better than this Samsung one for the same price? It's not clear if it accommodates a case too, or is officially compatible with the Note 3, but the reviews say the Note 3 fits fine.

HIya, I am the cheapest man in town. I wasn't aware of the Samsung one being any where near the price of these units? Not only that, and I could be wrong on this, but the Samsung one is not dual, that is, charge the phone and a battery at once.. I could be wrong on the latter, but on the price, I am sure I am correct on that.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Zmann, we are both on to the deals.. :D These chargers appears to do everything the OEM does and more.. Such as charging a battery at the same time it is charging the Note 3, and not to mention at 1/3rd the price!! :D

Looking closer at the one you have, I could be wrong, but it appears to have a 2.0 USB connector..Am I seeing that right? Whereas, the one I ordered, clearly has a 3.0 USB connector.

I did not even notice. That does not matter to me. This stays bed side always. I use my phone for my beside alarm clock and only dock phone when I go to sleep. I don't need to charge in the dock fast. As far as the extra battery goes I have 3 extra batteries but so far I have never used them. I find it a challenge to get my phone below 40 percent by the end of day. Incredible. I even stream sirius radio all day all week. They will eventually come in handy when I go up in the mountains for a weekend or something like that. This dock also has the removable piece to change the size to fit with or without a case.

THE BEAST,,NOTE 3. SIZE IS EVERYTHING!!!

We on the same page... :) Mine will be on my desk at work.. Since you mentioned bedside, think I will get another one for that.. that makes good sense. there..

On the batteries, I have 2 spare batteries, and the only time I change one, it wasn't needed, I just wanted to see how fast, and the quality of the Casology batteries..Well, the battery life on the Note 3 is nothing short of amazing.. On my side they will come in handy when I take a long bus trip or airplane trip, I will be hitting movies and surfing as much as I can. The removable battery, is a winner too..

I'm not sure. I haven't gotten one yet. My concern is whether these docks support the rapid charge. I'm not sure if you need micro USB 3.0 to get rapid charge. I don't really care about fast data transfer. The Samsung one has a groove at the bottom for the phone to rest, I'm not sure if it is wide enough to allow a phone with case to seat down far enough to make a connection.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

That looks good. It looks like there is a removable insert to accommodate a case? It looks like a regular micro-USB on the back, are you able to get rapid charge with it?

Now, that is a good question.. As Zmann pointed out, there is a 2.0 connector in the back..So, everything should default to the lowest speed.. If that was a standard USB port on the back, 3.0 would be allowed, and I am correct? Anyway, just like Zmann stated, going on his bed side.. Mine is going on a work desk..and I think I will grab another for bedside too. .:D.. Now, for $50 a copy, I would have different thoughts on this doubel and triple up idea... :D

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Hi everyone.
I was browsing around looking at cases (cyber Monday). I have the S view case from Samsung and another case from Incipio. :) I love them both.
Anyway, since I'm new to Android, what are some other quality cases? I know there is Spigen but to be honest, I see a bunch of fake cheap cases.
When I was with Apple, the ones that I love was Incase and Moshi brand. Thanks!! :D

Just received my gold Neo-Hybrid case, and it's fantastic. Very high quality, looks great, and doesn't add too much bulk. Highly recommend it to anybody.

Out of all the cases for my note 3, the neohybrid has grown on me. Really digging this case.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

I ordered a similar one from ebay a few days ago: Data Sync Dual Charger Dock Station for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 III N9000 N9005 | eBay

While this one has the bigger USB 3.0 port for the phone, you will notice that the port on the back is USB 2.0 so no high speed sync. I had read that for purposes of charging USB 2.0 vs 3.0 makes no difference and with the thicker 3.0 port and the dock design is looked more stable than some of the alternatives. Also - with the removable insert it looks like it will work well with my bumper case. I want a dock for charging and rarely (now that I already copied 50+GB of music over to my SD) need to move data to the phone so a dock with 3.0 sync is not that big of a deal - I can always plug in via my 3.0 cord on the rare occasion I need to.

Wow!! 50gb of music!! :D You really pushing that 64gb sd card.. :D What happens when you fill up the 64gb sd card?

On my side, I got a deal on two Sandisk Ultra 64gb micro sd class 10 cards, and was reluctant to give the spare one to my wife. After seeing your post, I glad I kept it.. I purchased my wife a 16gb class 10 for here S4. :D
I am keeping the spare 64gb card for myself.. :D Just in case I fill this one up, just like when I run out of jiuce, I can swap in a spare battery, I run out of storage, I am popping in another 64gb. And keeping the other one intact for when I need to go back to whats on that one.. It's all good!!

I hear you too, praising your high end cases... :D

I would like to see a shootout between high end cases, such as the S View, Incase and Moshi, up against cheap, fake, and puny cases.. :D And see if the high end cases protect more or less.. Right now, my Note 3 is protected all around for about $21..Sheesh, that doesn't even buy a strap on you all's high end cases.. :D

My primary case is a Spigen Bounce or a $4 case off Ebay, a $7 fake/clone tempered glass, and $4 wallet type case with belt loops. Mucho protection.. Cheapo price..

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

For me its not so much about drop protection as I have never dropped a phone in 10+ years, as it is about just protecting the screen when its in my shirt pocket. And even above that the Sview cover/case shuts the phone down and you can answer the phone and see some information without opening it. Its just perfect.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Oh and just to add I absolutely hate screen covers, they never look good and start to peel eventually and I can never get the bubbles out. That's what make the S-view cover so awesome, 2/3 solid protection and 1/3 hard window where you can see stuff and still answer the phone. Its a beautiful thing. Its a work of art.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

I picked up the Otterbox Defender and its nice and all but a bit on the bulky side so it may be going back. I did see that Spigen finally got the Slim Armor View out for pre-order on Amazon.com for $56.99 so I bought one though I suspect they will NOT ship by December 31st as they say on Amazon.com, perhaps earlier, but most likely late.
