Galaxy Note 3 - Case & Covers Thread

In case anybody wants my impressions, I like the Otterbox as the protection looks to be as good as their iPhone cases.
That being said it has some issues with it, including how difficult it is to remove along side the fact that dust is still finding its way under the screen protector. It also has that weird rainbow bubble like effect that shows when the screen is turned off but that isn't a huge issue.

Probably give it a 3/5 but that may raise depending on how well it protects my device if I ever drop it (Knock on wood).

i normally get my cases from boxwave. and i'm such an accessory *****. so I would order a bunch and switch it out weekly depending on my mood. So far they have lots of cases for other devices as well and i like it! if you want to save more, i would suggest getting it through amazon. just sayin'

Just to add my two cents. I tried these metal bumper's along with a carbon fiber back on my Note 3 to get a more premium feel. The metal feels more upscale like an iPhone but I really don't like the cold feeling of metal and fail to see the attraction of metal phones from a tactile point of view. Also it is durable but I've dropped it a few times and it protects the phone but it damages whatever it falls on. In one instance it put a divot in my laptop cover after it fell out of my shirt pocket and would do the same to hardwood floors. Also it requires a screwdriver to remove it so forget about quick battery changes. The other downside is it has a narrow slot where the USB charger plugs in. If you have a micro-usb cable with a slender grip it's fine but if it is a little thicker you can't get it to plug in all the way. So I don't recommend these bumpers in case anyone was considering them.

I love my Tech21 case for my Note 3. So far I don't see one flaw in it I love the material it is made from. It doesn't get greasy, it doesn't scratch, it's smooth, but not slippery. It fits really snug. The cutouts for the charger and headphone jack are big enough to accommodate any charger or pair of headphones. The case is super protective. But it is still very sleek and attractive. I could ask for anything more.

It adds too much width to the sides of the Note.

Not for me. I love the way it feels.

Go compare it to the body glove fusion steel case that t mobile sells or the speck candyshell grip case. There is a difference.

I know there is a difference. The Body Glove case was the first one I bought. But I like the Tech21 better.

I see all these comments on glass screen protector. What is the difference between glass and plastic? I've never had a problem with the plastic ones.

I had the plastic one before and thought it was good. But if you ever use the S Pen, it will leave marks on the plastic shield. Plus it doesn't protect as well as a glass shield.

I decided to try the glass shield and it is like night and day. Will Never go back to plastic screen shields again. You can't even tell the glass shield is on. And it'll protect your screen much better.

Glass screen protector is like the original screen, finger slides across with little resistance. There is no "orange peel" texture of plastic screen protectors and I find the plastic ones get kind of tacky. Also the oleophilic coating on the glass screen protectors reduce the oily build up. You still get finger prints but the print is more like dust that is easily wiped off. On non-oleophilic screens the oil builds up like oily eyeglasses and won't wipe off easily with a cloth. It is especially beneficial with the S-pen as it might scratch a plastic screen protector.

Thanks. I keep forgetting about the s pen. I am pretty happy with the zagg HD versions but they are plastic.

Dude trust us I had the Zagg plastic shield too, thought it was good and used it for like 3 months. After my kids knocked my phone onto concrete and almost cracked the screen I went to the tempered glass screen shield and it is so much better.

I hope to pick up the n3 this weekend but I won't get the glass screen protector until next week and I will be out of town. I'll stick with a plastic one when I get it. Something is better then nothing.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. Plastic is way better than naked screen no doubt!

I bought my tempered glass at my local AT&T store and they installed it too, and did a great job

Some Verizon stores also carry them - their own brand - and install them at no charge. While I'm no fan of Verizon and left their service a couple years ago, I am very happy with the glass screen protector I bought from them. It actually feels better than the Note 3 screen to me.

I've read through a number of these pages and have narrowed my search to a few cases. I need feedback or opinions in helping me evaluate which case would be the best choice.
Something to keep in mind is that I will be using a glass screen protector (leaning towards Spigen) with a max thickness of .4mm. So the case should accommodate the thickness level and not be too tight. Also I want all the ports to be covered so no dust settles. I would have chose the Neo Hybrid but ports are exposed.

I'm enticed by the kickstand but the corners seem to stick out too much. It also doesn't look pocket friendly.

Otterbox
Defender seems too bulky but this has a longstanding good reputation.
Body Glove Shocksuit
Looks amazing, lightweight, and not too bulky. Very intrigued by this one. Only con is no kickstand.
