Galaxy Note 3 drains battery faster than space shuttle burned fuel

At the moment there's an ongoing issue with Google Play Services that's affecting most Android phones I imagine. It's been at the top of the list of power draining apps for most people the past few days. Check and see if that's a battery hog. If it is, then you're not alone and can expect an improvement once it's fixed.

Unfortunately I don't know if anything can be done to stop it on our end. We just have to wait until Google fixes it.
Where did you hear this? I have zero issue with it...and I don't even see it on the list of apps using battery...

The top of the list from what I read, is screen-on - not Google Play Services

Not overly impressed with these figures.
I typically keep my N3 plugged in at work so I haven't noticed how bad it was sucking juice.
Home all day today and been doing some heavy use. Pandora, Games, Splashtop, PDF editing and such.
Is 5.5 hours good or am I expecting to much?

I believe a recent semi-hidden update has fixed it for me at least, but as for where I've heard it - just google "google play services battery" or such.

If you managed to get by unaffected, consider yourself lucky!

Someone mentioned that the max screen time for a heavy user is 7 hours. I read that somewhere.

Seems like your screen was on for the better part of those 5+ hours. In a typical day I'm getting anywhere from 4 to 5 hours of screen on time

The problem is with the 4.3 Samsung version of Android. It causes the same problems on many devices that receive it. I have a Note 2 and it had a beastly battery performance with 300 apps on it while running on the 4.1.2. After the update it drains 25% during the night with the screen off. And I have done the factory reset twice and only a few apps are on my phone now. All syncing is off as is weather, GPS, G3 and many other functions. Knox is not installed and Google play, Google magazines, Chat on and many other default apps are disabled. In reality only a fix via an update could fix the problem for good, either from Google or Samsung.

This screenshot shows nearly two days usage without a charge. So getting good to great battery life is possible. As many have posted in this thread; individual apps, usage patterns, reception, screen time, system settings, and background processes (apps and services that are constantly running) - all have a direct and unavoidable impact on battery life.

With that type of usage, I also get around 2 days...

That isn't a whole lot of usage - and I can understand why when people are out of their home or office all day and using the device heavily, they may say battery life isn't all that great. But then, when you compare against other devices, this would still be far better. Try getting that type of battery out of an IPhone - we all know it won't happen.

2 days with light to moderate usage for a device like this is amazing.

Yep. Usage is always key. On the weekends my phone lasts and lasts... As work? Pfft... 3 hours I can be at 40% from 100 lol :P

Please correct me if im wrong... Ive noticed that cellphone usage, mobile data, bluetooth etc does affect battery life depending on how heavy you use it, but the single consistent thing I found is that max battery life is directly proportional to screen time. Ive found max scren time to be 5.5hours on mine.

So when im at around 2.5 or 2.7 hours battery life would be near 50?.
Is this true for others too?

Your expectations are a little.... No... Way to high...

Your screen was on for at least 4 to 4.5 of those 5.5 hours. What do you expect a massive screen to do?

Go get another phone and leave the screen on for 4.5 hours while you use it... Bet it will die before you hit that time.
