Galaxy s20 full bars, can text and use data, cant make or recieve phone calls?

I am out of town for work and although my phone has full service, I can access data and text, it won't allow me to make calls. It first happened with my galaxy s8, I got a new sim card still happened, now I got a galaxy s20 and new sim card still happening. The wierd thing is my work phone can make calls (iPhone xr)

Who's your carrier?
Have you tried reset the APN?

Yes 5g s20 didn't call my carrier yet but my first sim card was with koodo switched to telus for last 2 sim cards so i don't think it is a carrier issue also is happening to co-workers on bell but my work phone is also on bell

Don't know what an APN reset is. So far just tried forcing the phone to 2g and 3g network and still couldn't call it only 3g had bars

Go to settings >connection >mobile network >access point then tap 3 dots upper right corner and choose reset

There have been many reports of poor or spotty reception on 5G on various carriers, even with good signal bars.

Tried this didn't change anything

When I try to make a call it goes to the call screen and just sits there for a minute or so without any sound saying calling then ends the call

But this was happening on my galaxy s8 before I had the s20 and when I use Lte network it still can't call

This only happens when you're away from your home area? Is the phone roaming on a different carrier's network?

Current carrier is telus prior to that was koodo

Yes phone works fine everywhere else I use it only encountered it here no phone is staying on telus network

Try resetting network, go settings >general management >reset>reset network

Coworker who was also having this said he just had to turn of volte calling restart his phone and turn volte calling back on tried this as well (prior to reseting network)

Try airplane mode for few seconds and then turn off ?

I was having issues with receiving and making calls. I have t mobile and i was furious about this 1400 phone and i cannot receive calls. Finally i read to reset network settings and i did. Guess what, it worked. Now I'm receiving calls thru wifi calling and network. I can't believe it's not butter. I still have the old sim card. I am still testing to see if it goes to voicemail. Lol. Try it.

They mentioned they had tried that and didn't work
