Galaxy S20 Launch = Complete FLOP !

Price, (perceived) ugliness and an underwhelming camera compared to what was promised.

Also, Samsung uses the inferior Exynos chips in the S20 phones released in Asia. Exynos is crap, Samsung should stop trying to be clever and reinvent the wheel. Same goes for Bixby.

In any case, we'll know once Samsung publishes its quarterly financial reports.

The corona will be a convenient scapegoat.

If you don't mind the 'locked down' Apple ecosystem, buying an iPhone makes more sense these days. Timely and mostly trouble-free software updates for at least 5 years, higher resale value, and quite likely cheaper than an equivalent premium Android phone these days.

Other than a few notable exceptions, most premium Android phones have removed the headphone jack, so Android's moral high ground regarding that is gone.

Google Maps is available on iOS, and I don't miss anything else from Google. Duo is inferior to Facetime, and I refuse to install Skype or anything from Microsoft. I'm not interested in the so-called 'customizations' or nerdy hobbies such as loading a custom ROM.

Google Assistant is better than Siri, I'll admit that. But Siri isn't as terrible as Samsung's Bixby.

So what exactly is the compelling point of sticking with Android?

That's a question for yourself actually. The rest of us prefer choice, and there are plenty of reasons to prefer Android.

For one, base storage of 128gb instead of 64. Need I go on?

If you prefer iOS then that is your choice. I prefer Android. iOS is too boring for me to use any more. I like the customisation of Android and Samsung phones a lot. I am enjoying the extras I have on my S10+ even over the Pixel 4XL, which I have now given my husband. These are my choices and they are valid too.

IOS IS extremely boring, ugly notch on screen, no WQHD, no 120HZ, no AOD, on current models - etc.. etc... There are some great things about iPhone's - but people shouldn't act like it's superior to everything, because it's not. Didn't IOS just get dark mode? lol - I mean there are plenty of examples like that. I cant' stand when Apple fans think that iPhone's are superior to all phones. They are not! And as for price - Just wait until iPhone 12 comes out with 5G, better screen, etc, etc.. etc.....$1200 to $1400 easy. The days of 3 figure premium flagships are in the past.

Technically iOS had Dark Mode before Android even though Google kept flirting with it in their developer previews but of course didn’t add it officially to Android 10 until  did.

Also  implemented a screen recording option well before Google did with their joke of an implementation and don’t even get me started on Google trying copy FaceID and failing by not including the most basic security option of requiring attention for unlock. I don’t care that they finally added it with the April security update. If  had done a major blunder like that there would have been so many you tubers and articles written about “eyegate”. Sʌᴍsᴜɴɢ and Google always get passes when it comes to major blunders.

What exactly makes IOS boring ? Ugly notch, I’d take the notch over the [Mod redacted] hole in a heartbeat. The S20 has to be dumbed down to even use the 120HZ, that’s a half *** implementation.

Just wait until the iPhone gets multi window and reverse wireless charging. It will be said that Apple waited so they could get it better. I like a phone manufacturer that pushes to have the latest technology not one that implements things years after it's become a standard. I probably should switch to Apple though as I wouldn't feel the need to upgrade for years and can then save a ton of money lol...

Siri is far less superior than Bixby. Do a test and you'll see that siri can't even do half the features of Bixby. I don't see how it's been out for so many years and most of the commands are still internet based(will pull up websites instead of completing task). Although I love Google assistant Bixby has the potential to be even greater than it is currently as it can do many complex demands and makes it easy to access things that some users may have difficulty doing.

Here's a good comparison showing what bixby can actually do. Wish he got more indepth with routines and things, but seeing that it doesn't even exist on Siri guess he felt it wouldn't be fair.

I think it realy boils down to the lack of any customisation, icon changes aside an iPhone home screen today looks pretty much the same as it did 10 years ago. I like how once you open an app on an iPhone that it invariably just feels slicker than a droid but I like a little more flexibility on my phones. Also Apple were dragged kicking and screaming to finally add a file browser but it is still not that userful IMO.

I'm not going to get into a debate about which is better because I don't use any assistants on any phone. I still just feel dumb talking to my phone. However, Apple has Shortcuts which are exactly like Bixby Routines. In fact Shortcuts was released a year before Routines if I'm not mistaken. (I could. be. Like I said I don't use assistants. Just going by my foggy memory. LOL)

Bixby is like Tasker for dummies. Did research on the shortcuts app and it states that it wasn't built into the os until 12. Before that it was an app from a third party company called workflow so definitely not a year before Bixby routines. The thing it lacks is action base meaning you have to talk to siri or use the shortcuts app. Bixby will work during a certain time, location, etc. Until they start that it's still a half bake feature that's been on Android for years.

Price down to $849 for the S20+ at BB. Such a quick drop from launch with no holidays going on. Verizon model. $200 instant discount. Plus $150 via 24 payment credits (which suck, but if you're a 2 year phone person, it works). Unlocked is $949.

I think they shot themselves in the foot with the absurd price hikes from last year. I'm sure pandemic doesn't help, but oddly Pixel 4's not even on sale now. The first few weeks of a phones launch is super critical, and I think many balked. 4 weeks of a phone on sale is like dog years, outside of apple's cult following.

I agree on the price hike but that's happening all manufacturer due to 5g and other things , but I think most who got the phones paid half of the device with trade ins , not sure there were many that paid full price.

Under half for me with watch/galaxy buds and I'm very happy about it. Was willing to pay more, but won't turn down a cheaper price lol.

The major reason for the price drop is because they sold more Ultras and less Plus models during pre-order than planned. I forget the actual numbers but they sold as many Ultras as the 20s and Pluses combined.

My out the door price for the Ultra was 680.00. I don't think there is a better phone for that price. Including receiving headphone dongle, additional 25 watt charger and Galaxy Buds, can't beat it. The camera is the best available for certain shots. No one can argue the specs built in to the phone.

Always would be things that could be better with any device but until the next thing is out that I want, be it the end of this year, or next year I am happy.

What did you trade in to get that out the door price?
