Galaxy S20+ Screen Burn or Image Retention?

I've had my phone for about two months now and while I really like the device I have recently noticed (and driving myself nuts lol) what looks to be screen burn in or what I've read could also be image retention. These are images on the keyboard after being up for about 60 seconds. It does fade back to normal but I'd just like some feedback from anyone who's aware of this happening or maybe experience the same thing.

It goes away in a few seconds. I'm trying to see if anyone has experienced this. I'd like a little more elaboration that just " not good send it back". Not trying to give anyone a hard time but I'm getting mixed feelings about it, and why wouldn't I? $1200 device and I dont have a replacement device to get me by until the new unit comes in. So I'd be at a loss for a while. Just wish I had some answers.

Well your thread is open to many more to comment here and in the correct forum.
You can monitor it in safe mode for little bit see if it goes away, if its the same then try factory reset before you make the warranty claim.

I probably should have mentioned now that I thought about it, that my Galaxy A50 that I had before this device i just tested the same thing on and it does display they same keyboard image after it sits for a few seconds but not quite as heavy.

Mostly yes.

Welcome to Android Central! Perhaps try turning your brightness settings to Automatic and see what happens. If you still get some type of image retention, perhaps contact Samsung. This type of thing should not be happening, especially to your new phone! Keep us posted on what happens! :)

I have been messing with it. I goes completely away with seconds and not nearly as bad on lower brightness. Id almost like to believe its normal for a screen like this based on what others have said about OLED. And it doesn't show after those few seconds in any other application and not off-putting. Im just very OCD about my electronics and wanted to hear of anyone else has noticed it in fine detail.

Its also worth noting I only see it on that gray incognito browser screen (Unrelated im sure its just the grey they use that i see it on.) so thats all I have to base it off of.

It actually goes back to normal like this after just a few seconds as stated before.

I honestly don't know. It literally doesn't affect anything else and I'd hate to be without a device during the process. Also I mean who wouldn't miss theyre S20 its an amazing device lol. And I wanna wait to see anyone else experiences or if someone knows this to be normal.

Yeah keeping it Max brightness will definitely cause the "ghosting" affect to fade away slower. It'll also shorten the life span of the display and has the potential of screen burn in at a faster rate. I'd recommend keeping it on auto brightness but if you plan to upgrade your device often then just go for it at Max.

Yeah, its like those TVs that sit all day on retail mode.

Still, I'd return it. You deserve a phone that performs perfectly, especially at that price.

Can we say this is normal for my device vs anyone else's? Have I not done anything wrong in the two months that I've had it? I dont leave images or the screen on long for that matter. Mostly for gaming but thats not still images. Id just like the worry out of my head honestly.

I don't think it's anything you've done wrong! Sometimes these things just happen. Maybe there waw a defect in your screen when you bought your device. But, it is curious that it disappears after a while. Normally, burn-in wouldn't disappear like that.

Understood. Thank you all so far. Though I've looked at the warranty claim through Samsung ive got no other device to fall back on for one, I'm not sure how long I'd be without one for two, and what if they deem it a non issue or dont notice it at all since I dont believe it would be that noticeable to just anyone without my level of obsessiveness for three?
