I can confirm this also, i have the pebble blue s3 and i placed it on a over night charge only to wake up to a cracked screen. Samsung want, 200 euros to fix this.

This is my first Samsung galaxy phone and will probably be my last. back to iphone i think

Such a shame as i really do like the s3.

I have had the same experience with a Cracked Screen on a SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 for NO REASON.... I owned the phone 4 day's then what appeared like a hair was really a crack. I took the phone back to the Verizon Store at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mallwhere we purchased the phone, only to be treated like I was Lying and that I would have to go through my insurance to get it fixed and pay a deductable. There is not a mark on the phone or the case they sold me to protect the phone... I was treated rudely and passed off... I am still dealing wiith Verizon over the phone to try and make this right, there is apparently something wrong with the glass screen, the phone then slowly went on the blink to the point where now it doesn't work at all, FOUR DAY's dont BUY THESE PHONES, THERE IS A PROBLAME , THE PHONE SCREENS ON THE 5 INCH GALAXY NOTE 2 BY SAMSUNG... THE VERIZON STORE WHO SELL THEM WILL NOT HELP YOU!

I got Samsung Galaxy SIII last friday 21st Sep and used it couple of days and saw a crack on the sceen from right to left. It is a hair line crack. I didnt do anything I left the phone charging and when I removed the cable and took the phone in hand I saw the crack. When I took it to the ATT store they said they cannot do anything and asked me to call Samsung help. They said it is physical abuse of screen and they cannot do anything.I asked the excecutive to transfer the call to his manager. He said some one would be calling me in 24hrs. I'm waiting. This is ridiculous. I repent moving from Iphone4 to Galaxy SIII and not going to IPhone 5 if Samasung customer service is this crappy and the screen is this delicate.

I have had my Galaxy s3 for a few months and have handled it like it was a family heirloom. Was not happy to find it had magicaly formed a crack across its screen.
Its in the otter box, has never been dropped.....nor even sat down any harder than you would place an egg on the counter. NOT HAPPY !!!! Especially now that i see it is a defect in the phone, and they are trying to charge people.... instead of sending out a recall.

Mine happens to be the pebble blue phone......coincidence maybe. But i take great care of my things, and if my phone formed a magic crack it is a defect for sure !!!

I kind of had the same issue. My girlfriend also babied her phone and all of a sudden it went to a black screen. Never has been dropped or anything. The led's still worked so I called up samsung and I agreed to all the terms. Then to find out that they want me to pay 173 dollars because of "abuse". There were no scratches on the phone just the screen wouldn't do jack. I talked to many people and got it down to 70.30 something. I believe that samsung is ripping people off in some areas. Samsung never contacted me about paying, I had to check online myself after talking to someone on the phone saying it was being repaired and I should receive it shortly. Well about 3 weeks went by and I just now got the phone back. Not very happy with that.

Well this is a concern after many great things i like about the phone this pops up. Well i got a theory that with all products come with a bad batch. No co can make things exlactly perfect everday i would say about 1mill phones since the s3 been out and maybe a 100,000 are a defect (may not be 100% true)

my iphone 4s is all glass minus sides i have a otter box defender case, i dropped on a tile in the house the bottom half(where the phone slides in at broke. Not a scratch on the phone. Drop was about 4.5ft maybe. I have had otter box defender before never broke on any surface or drop on my 3gs. Maybe i got a defected case

Edit with the 4S i was mainly taking about my case.

Yes, the exact same thing happened to me. I've only had it for 3 weeks and have never dropped it. There isn't a single crack or nick on it. Sprint asked me where I keep it and said my purse. He said, it's definitely a pressure crack. Seriously?! What, do you think I carry a 500 pound brick in my purse?! Absolutely ridiculous! Like what the hell kind of object would a woman have that would cause a pressure check?! I can't stand these a-holes. I've been a customer for a VERY long time and it'd be no skin off their nose to replace the screen for free, but no, they wanted $100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other night I was sitting on my couch. My phone was on the table next to me. I received a text, picked up my phone and my screen cracked all up the right side. My husband was sitting right next to me and couldn't believe it. I called AT&T (no help, said 1st they have heard of this problem), called Samsung (said I could send it in for $178 and this is the 1st they have heard any problem like this). I told them check the android forums, do a google search. Seems like a defect. they told me too bad send it in and pay $178. I am now stuck with a cracked screen that was never dropped.

Same thing happened here. After waiting a few months to decide on a phone, I finally chose a S3.
The phone was activated on Verizon 2 days ago - Friday. The incident took place when I left it on my table for the day-Sunday, when I looked at it later in the evening, it was cracked on the side. I had not even used it today. Initially it looked minor as it did not cover the actual touch interface. Then after an hour or so a second huge crack showed up by-itself in a completely different place. I don't understand how this possible. I have used the Samsung Galaxy SII before and have never had any issues at all. I do not know whats up with the Galaxy S3. I know a bunch of people who really ill treat their S3 and still no screen damage whatsoever. I am currently trying to figure out what is going on and how to deal with this ...

Just bought Samsung Galaxy s4, 6 days ago with a case to protect it. Put in my front pocket face in towards my leg. Took it out a few minutes latter and the screen on the inside was spiderwebed and you couldn't make out the screen. I went back to the Sprint store to see if they knew what happened and they told me how it happened even though they weren't at my house. Apparently I ran into the corner of a table without knowing it, even though I was a wake and don't remember. But they said that the insurance would fix it for $150. After reading the posts I think the thing over heated in my pocket.

my phone did this this morning, left on charge on top of my computer tower, woke up to cracked screen. the computer is under a window so i was thinking the hot/cold maybe? (in NSW Australia) definitely no drop

So I have been repairing these phones for six months now. Ive done about 50 galaxy s3 and have just recently noticed this since I have been reading on the net about this problem. I would say about 3 in 5 I repair have micro cracks on the outer portion of the lcds outside of the viewing area. At first I thought nothing about it but with further investigation I have relized this. Samsung produce thousands of screens per day and has a allowance for screen flaws. Unfortunately their poor ALLOWANCES affect customers. If there is a crack in glass it will spread eventually. I have been taking photos now of these crack. We try to stop them from spreading with resin fills and have fairly good results. There is no way to tell your screen is one of these until you damage it.

About 2 weeks ago I switched providers and opted for the S4, based on good reviews. T-Mobile had a deal going so I said what the hell. Ten days later - pressure crack (that's what I refer to it as). At the time I didn't know what was going on, just a black screen with some green streaky lines. I'm like wtf, I'm babying the thing, they put in a case with a film cover and I know positively I didn't drop it, walk into something, etc. Bring it right back to the store and of course, they think I caused it. Regardless, they replaced the phone free of charge. Ok, now I'm paranoid so I'm carrying the thing around like a bar of gold, putting it safe places, out of the sun, away from heat, like it's a friggin small child. Today, 11 days later I come back from my coffee break and I'm sitting it my truck. Check a few things on the phone, working fine and head back into work. Put the phone on a shelf in an AC'd room, come back 30 minutes later - same ******* thing! Now I can see the crack right across the middle, no display, black screen with streaky lines when I hit a button. Two phones, 2 weeks, same thing. I'm at a loss for words, my only theory is that if you bend the phone slightly the screen cracks whether taking in and out of your pocket or whatever. A $529.00 retail anything on earth should not do this. I'm in the process of calming myself before going back to the store..AGAIN. Don't what is gonna happen. I have the the insurance, but I'm pretty sure there is a $175 deductible, possibly a restocking fee too. All I know is I am never getting another Samsung.

I am no expert, but it looks like Samsung having issues with their new batches. Most of you here only used the phone for few weeks or so. I had my S3 for close to an year without any issues. Samsung should take note of this because they will lose a lot of customers if this is an ongoing issue.

I was answering a text and saw what I thought was dirt and tried to brush it off. The top 3/4ths of my screen is shattered. Yes, I have dropped it about 2 months ago and even in water. I took it into US Cellular and had them make sure everything was ok. Still works fine except for the shattered screen. My daughters shattered about 2 months ago and she can't afford to fix it even with the insurance we have .I posted on face book and 2 more have had the same problems. Looks Like Samsung Galaxy 3's have a defect. I have had mine since 2012.

Got my 24 year old daughter her first smartphone Galaxy S3. She noticed cracks on screen 3 days ago. Had it for only 2 weeks. Definitely no drops and kept in case. From the previous post I have to believe it is a manufacturing defect. Gorilla glass shouldn't do this with normal use. Went to Verizon store and went up to store manager level.They will not handle any adjustment or exchanges. They say that cracks are not a warranty issue and they suggested I call Samsung for help. First ever disappointing experience with a smartphone. Does anyone have a good experience dealing with Samsung with this issue. What about going higher up in Verizon's chain of command. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
